NEW OME Lift Kit for 4Runner W/ BP-51

Anyone have any reviews on these new shocks in this kit? Internal bypass...

Old Man Emu Suspension Kit 2.5-3" Lift Kit For 10+ FJ Cruiser & 4Runner W/ BP-51

Seems the kit has been around for FJ's for a bit longer, as we know much of the same DNA in the new 4runners:

OLD MAN EMU COMPLETE SUSPENSION KIT STOCK LOAD 2.5-3" LIFT KIT FOR TOYOTA FJ CRUISER W/ BP-51 (OMEFJC10LKBP51)

So anyone with some handing experience on either platform?

I've always loved OME suspension, and have often considered swapping it back onto my 80 series in place of my Slee 6".

IMOP OME has the best riding coils, curious how these internal bypass feel and how easily they can be adjusted.

Thanks,

I'm running them with the heavier springs in the rear. If you have the bumper and weight in the rear already, go with the heavier springs. The rear ride is a bit bumpy without it.

With that said, the front rides as well as my kings on the Tacoma and the quality and finish are top notch.

Once I get the bumper in from SS, I'll start screwing with the damper/rebound. The ride is fine enough up front that I don't need to change anything yet. Once I do, I'll update on here

SS,

Do you have any pictures of the suspension? You mentioned the fit n finish was good, curious to see them as the picture say "product may vary"

Also If your "comp-ing" them to Kings, then they must be pretty darn good... I've always had good experiences with OME stuff, those guys in OZ seem to know what's up.

Lastly, how long have you been running them?

Thanks,

I thought this thread was going to deliver the pics/video/first had experience and extensive test data of the system compared to Icon, King, Fox/offer to test drive that we've all been waiting for...

I still don't think ARB has released the 4Runner specific BP-51 (I read on IG they said "soon" a month or 2 ago in some response to comments), the set on the toytec site while valved for the FJ can be used on the 4Runner.

Definitely interested in some feedback or news as well if its out there.

I've been running it for 4-6 weeks now without any issues. Below are the pics i took after install. For the install, main line overland provided the appropriate fit kit and sent me to Toytec for the radiator support spacers.

I'd be interested to know if anyone would replace their TRD Pro suspension with this, and how it compares to a higher stage (5+) Icon setup. Been debating this or the Icon for a few.

So given all the suspension systems give you around the same max 3" of lift...

The real difference is in the coilover's, coil rates and valving correct?

Aside from billet UCA's and other components of course... This IFS world is a bit outside my normal wheel house...

My real "Trail Rig" shown below... The Runner is my DD / fire road runner, until the odometer get north of 100K... But I'm more than halfway there, just did my 60K service last weekend...

Lol. I thought that name sounded familiar. It's fun to wheel the 80 and the runner though. The runner is not going to be as sweet as your 80 but for dd, it's a great rig.

Ya... I guess someone else has "AMMO" so tossing "Trail" in front seemed like a logical choice :-)

Love the runner for DD and family "camping / exploring"... Funny cause when we were in OR the 80 was more expo.... Now down here with actual trails, the 80 went back to "trail duty" and the runner became the get outta down runner :-)

See ya back on mud!

Total lift?

So I had posted this up on SEcret squirrel thread....

I'm curious what others get out of this lift in terms of over all clearance.... I'm scratching my head here because SS stated he only has 1" over my "Amazon special Daystar".... So I'm just not understanding what is really gained here?

Please don't jump on me about coilover's, valving, bypass and spring rate.... Many years ago I was in the desert scene so I understand all that.

Just can't figure out how you only gain 1" in the front over my rig on stock sized Duratrac's with Daystar spacers? I'd think you'd get more then 1" just from the tires SS is running...

Do the other lifts offer more "Lift"? Hence the ability to run larger tires, hence the ability to gain more clearance under the diff?

I have about 1k with these on my trdp and I can tell you it is a massive improvement. I have the same clearance as I did with the toytec spacer kit so overall I would say I am seeing about 2" of lift. I think it all comes down to preference and cost benefit analysis. I like the fact that I can adjust height to compensate for the extra weight I've added (front/rear bumper, winch, armor) also messed around with the dampening/rebound settings when I hit the sand dunes and mountain trials and I am very pleased.

That ability to dial a suspension based on the intended.... "Mission" is very appealing...

In the front I'd assume that involves a coil spring wrench and some adjustments to the bypass...

How do you adjust the height in the rear? Isn't that just a standard coil?

Yeah just a standard coil. Im running the OME 898 and it feels great. I should have been more specific. I like taking out the large amount of rake I had with the previous setup but adjusting up front. The SSS bumper and winch made the trd setup nose dive. The dampening and rebound can be done pretty much on the fly with ARBs version of a spanner. The rears make you contort your arm to get access but fairly easy considering the adjustability it provides.

You can get more lift. Heck, I could probably get 5" total lift over stock(I have 700lb springs on my CO and have them almost completely as low as I can go and have 3" lift), but my CV axles are the problem. The most you can get and not have the boots tear apart is 3" no matter how you do it.. unless you go LT...:hippie: I'm running 34s on 3" lift though and others have 35" tires, so you can gain clearance that way. None of us are bigger than 35s.

Rears are like the LC. Coils and shocks that match plus all the extended break-lines swaybar crap blah blah blah. I'm up 3" in rear now that everything has settled.
