New owner missing some parts...

Hello all I have been here for a while researching and soaking as much info as possible. I was leaning towards a 4th gen but this 3rd gen came along...

this is a "4wd" limited. looks awesome on the outside not so nice on the inside, and well the front is missing some parts.. could you guys pitch in and tell me what I need to add to my missing 4wd?

what happened to your missing CV front axles/half shafts??

Looks like someone didn't like the 4WD so they cut the CVs, but to keep the diff from leaking they plugged them.

Could cause a BUNCH of problems.

The ADD system isn't designed to be driven on without the CVs in place. Could have ruined a bearing or something.

Kinda makes a person wonder about what condition that diff is in,
as in why the partial cv shafts?

I have to ask: did you take a look under the 4runner before you bought it?

Nonetheless, $210 at NAPA for CVs and you should be OK. Draining and refilling the differential fluid would be a good idea as well as taking a close look at the lower ball joints.

Wow.. I really hope you didn't buy that runner. I could only imagine what else is missing/ wrong if they couldn't even get the cv's replaced. Any pics of under the hood? Ha

I have used CV axle assemblies I can send you for much less than Napa wants for them. I am also parting out several 4Runners, I have pretty much anything you will need to get your 4WD working again.

Thats an interesting solution to a leaking CV. At least the front diff's are usually cheap, if yours is even bad.

I bet there is something wrong with the front diff, it looks like the CVs were cut with a sawzall or something.

Damn, it never ceases to amaze me what unscrupulous used car dealers will do these day.s

Lower Ball Joints are looking a little damp too. Might want to replace them as well.
