I am a very happy camper today, because I finally found a 4X4 4Runner Limited that has the optional e-locker. After owning 3 4Runners (2X4s) over the past 10 years or so, I decided that I wanting to get a 4X4 so that I could build it up the way I want and make it a top notch Off-Road beast! I have been doing research for quite awhile and I am pretty locked into the Mods that I want to do to it. My main question that I would like to ask everyone is, did I get a good deal on my new 4Runner? It is a 1998 Limited 4X4 with the factory e-locker (a option that I really wanted) and it has 104,000 miles on it and is in very good condition. The past owner was a lady and she took care of it very well. It came with all of the original paperwork (Owner's Manual, Window Sticker and all of the accessories that came with it from the dealership) and was never smoked in. It was posted on Craigslist yesterday morning and it was near Houston and when I called the guy told me that he was receiving a lot of calls and was surprised that he would get that many calls. It was his birthday and he did not want to show it to people last night and I had a feeling that if I did not jump on it, that it would be gone the next day, so I felt that I had to jump on it and tell him that I would take it and pay full price, if he would take it off Craigslist and let me drive down to Houston to pick it up last night. He agreed and I got a friend to go down and help me get the cars back to Austin and the good news is that he told me the truth about the car and it truly is in very good condition inside and out. I paid $5800.00 for it and I would like to hear the feedback as to, if I got a good deal? I hate not being able to negotiate on the price, but I felt that this is a very hard model to find, especially with the options that I wanted like the e-locker. So, I felt that I did not have any leverage to be able to negotiate and it is the exact 4Runner that I was looking for, even the color (Pearl White and Silver Trim, Tan Leather interior). Please leave feedback, if you feel that I got a good deal. I know that it is a done deal, but I still would like to know if I did good and from there I am going to start building my dream 4Runner. Good thing is that I can do most of the work myself and this will be a great and fun project to keep me busy when I'm not working. This is something that I have been wanting to do for quite awhile and now it is going to happen. I will take lots of pictures during the whole process in order to document the progress during the build and when it's done I will share the final photos. I plan on putting about $10k in to it, in order to get it fixed up the way I want and very little of the total will go to outside labor that I might need, because there are certain things that I can't do and it's better to have a pro do the job needed. Thanks for any input that I get and I am looking forward to getting to work on this.

. The side panels are also on the Limited editions and I also have those side panels. Mine seem to be falling off the sides and I'm also looking to repair those, another issue which you don't seem to be facing at all. My 97 also has 212k miles and you got 104k miles... In the 4Runner world (Esp 3rd gen) -- that is BABY miles. Well-maintained and proactive maintenance on these engines and they run for 400k+.... I think $5,800 is a steal for the paint/body/mileage conditions.... but I can't speak for any of the engine components since you haven't mentioned much about the engine. Make sure you do a timing belt replacement if one has never been done at 104k miles and also the water pump since those 2 are normally done in unison.
