New Owner saying HI

Hi guys,

Just got my first 4runner, 2009 Sport Edition 4x4 V8!

Ive been browsing the forums here and learning as much as I can.

I'd love to hit a trail sooner than later, does anyone know of any good places to start for a newbie off roader? Possibly one with a camping site?


Also saw some great info on easy mods. (Edited cause I changed my mind)

Here is what I'd like to pick up pretty quickly before snow season.
Tow Strap
Tool kit
Some way to store this all in the trunk

California is a big state. Depends where you are and how far you're willing to drive. There's plenty of lakes up in the mountains to camp on. They did just get some snow, not that I'd expect it to stick this early in the year.

If you're truly wanting to hit some trails, I'd be more focused on recovery gear than heater seats and mirrors.

Thats a great point. After I posted that I was doing some more homework so looks like tow strap etc will be first purchases.

Can anyone recommend a good place to start looking for tool sets? I'm in the Bay Area. Totally excited to have this vehicle.

I did see the snow in Tahoe! Looking forward to checking that out asap.
