New paint is in the budget, I need some suggestions...

I'm between that and the matte grey or semi gloss grey, I just don't know what either would look like on a 4runner again is there anyone that could help with photoshop please? haha


like I said I'm partial to the land cruiser blue just cause I was driven around in it so much as a kid and my brothers car is kinda what inspired me to build my rig. like I said I just don't know how it would look on a 3rd gen...I need somemore input!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhh it's a tough decision

This may sounds way from left field but I saw a fixed up fj60 in periwinkle blue and it looked freaking amazing!

I saw an FJ that was this color the other day, it looks A LOT better in pictures, in person it's a pretty dull color.

That lexus charcoal you posted would look great though IMO.

I think so too, like I said I just know the matte grey wouldnt shine, and if I'm repainting I want the new paint to shine, I've always liked that color I'd probly add some metallic...thoughts?

Semi gloss would be a lot easier to maintain. I was able to wax my paint and it comes out good with no extra gloss. While a flat wouldn't be able to wax at all without it coming out weird. So I vote for go with a semi gloss even though it's still more difficult to maintain than a normal gloss, there is no buffing out scrapes and scratches with a flat or semi gloss.

I went through thinking if I should just get a normal gloss black or semi gloss but went with the semi gloss because if I was going though with a paint job I wanted it to stick out and be different than other 4runners.

I've always liked that color too, especially in low-light. I think it would look even better with a small amount of a dark metallic, like maybe dark blue or green.

There was a color on the 3rd gens that was similar to the FJ blue, but a bit lighter, I've seen a couple in person, I think it may have been a one-year color. I never really liked it, it just doesn't look right on that new of a car IMO.

Yeah I really like the matte gray on that tacoma but I would vote for the semi gloss to be able to maintain it a little easier. If you park in a garage it probably wouldn't be too bad but for me since I park outside all the time the semi gloss is better. But being black and semi gloss, it's really hard to keep it looking clean. But if you go gray it probably wouldn't look as dirty as black.

yeah that blue is like the kinda blue you paint your first borns room with. I know what you're talking about. the Land cruiser blue is boarderline royal/baby blue I don't know if I could pull it off on the 4runner though just cause that color is so oldschool, I'm starting to lean towards the lexus grey cn you give an example of what you're talking about though? as far as "a small amunt of dark metallic with a bit of blue or green? sorry I've never thought about paint options until my dads buddy told me he'd do it for so cheap

yeah, black in any form is my last resort, like I said I want somethng that is going to stand out...with out being sunfire red....if you know what I mean?

Why not a brilliant white? It'll stand out, be completely different then what you have now. It'll also go very nicely with the copper wheels.

Haha yeah. I find it funny how most people kinda don't want what they have. Like you have black but want something different than black and then I had red but wanted black. The guys that don't have flares want them and the guys with them take them off. Things like that. But if I were to get my truck painted again I would go with a normal gloss shade of blue. Maybe in another couple years. The semi gloss and black is just hard to keep looking good all the time.

I thought about it but I own a pearl white sporty (harley) aswell and all my pop's 4runner's where white too but I really like the white they offered in our gen. this is too hard!!!! this iswhy I'm trying to get opinions ahhhh!!!!:violin:
