New paint is in the budget, I need some suggestions...

yeah that blue is like the kinda blue you paint your first borns room with. I know what you're talking about. the Land cruiser blue is boarderline royal/baby blue I don't know if I could pull it off on the 4runner though just cause that color is so oldschool, I'm starting to lean towards the lexus grey cn you give an example of what you're talking about though? as far as "a small amunt of dark metallic with a bit of blue or green? sorry I've never thought about paint options until my dads buddy told me he'd do it for so cheap

This Subaru color is kind of what I'm talking about,

It's called midnight black pearl, it's black, with a pretty fine coat of a blue metallic, I probably wouldn't go this heavy on the blue, but this should give you an idea.

I would go for more of a blue like this probably a little darker.

My personal favorite is mica red. Just keep in mind that unless you're planning on having him do a LOT of extra work, your doorjambs, etc will still be black. That would probably be too annoying for me, but if you can deal with it, I think this looks awesome:

I like dark gunmetal gray, even with gloss...although that satin on the first page is badass. Also, with a gunmetal, you don't have to worry about your door jambs being black as much.
I also like the cement color that some of the new Toyotas have...

Also, I wanted to add that if you wheel in an area that has tan dirt like TN does, that Mica Red looks great covered in mud. :eyebrows:

You might have beeter chances of fimdimg someone in tbe general discussions or the off topic threads, as that gets alot more trsffic by all members theb just the 3rd gen sub thread.

My vote is still for the fj blue, but the red that the second gen tacos is available in is looking pretty sweet. I cant remember who posted it..

I just painted my 4runner, my 2 cents on flat or satin paint: I think you can pull it off on a newer vehicle, much like the tacoma you posted. On these trucks, I think it just ends up looking like a turd with a crappy paint job. I actually bought flattening agent for my paint, and sprayed out a fender in satin, the dust stuck to it, and it looked cheap. I opted to go full gloss and am very thankful I did. My 2008 F450 will get flat though. lol

I'm diggin the taco flares by the way. can you explain the difference between satin and gloss to me please?

and yeah, I had a buddy back in highschool that had this 93 civic that he turned into a rice burner. he had it primed for like three years and when he painted it he painted it a blue very similar to the one that one of the guys photoshopped on there for me and man did it look like shit it just didn't look right. I want to steer away from my OEM color and do something different but I still want it to look right you know what I mean? my rig already looks "Hold muh beer" enough

I'm leaning towards the desert tan and lexus gunmetal colors right now, is the lexus color satin like you're talking about?

A couple fraternity brothers suggested matte white, I'd really like to know what that would look like on my rig specifically...

Basically satin is in between matte and gloss. Lol @ "hold muh beer"

All the lexus colors would be gloss, satin is a sheen, with less light reflection than gloss. Hope that helps.

I love my brothers land cruiser I just don't know if that color would look good on the 4runner haha and the only thing about the red I don't like is I dated a girl that drove a cherry red accura for close to 5 years, I don't know if I could bring myself to paint MY beloved 4runner red, I really like the sunfire red though and you NEVER see them I'm in a predicament :redbrick:
