New Pioneer AppRadio 3 Installed!

So I had the new Pioneeer AppRadio 3 installed over the weekend. It looks and sounds great...BUT....it was a PAIN IN THE BACKSIDE getting all of the correct cables located, bought, etc. The radio will interface w/ iPhones and select Android phones...BUT...requires a separate cable for each depending on which phone you have. I have an iPhone 5...and the cable was out of stock. So I am trying to locate one, buy it, and then take it back to Best Buy and have them put it in. So for now...I have bluetooth capability, DVD playback and radio. I am not able to use any of the apps in App Mode because I do not have the interface cable. Kind of a pain in the butt...but w/ that said...I love the radio so far and am looking forward to getting it up and running to "full capacity". If you don't mind the headache of the "cable conspiracy" ...this is a great radio.

Yeah..honestly I would. I'd just know this time...exactly what I needed the first time around and I'd have it ordered before having the install done. It doesn't help that out Best Buy here in Midland is horrible. I actually had to drive over to Odessa to even find the radio itself. Midland had zero of them....Odessa had 7. (shrug). So far I love it though...I suspect when I'm actually able to USE the app mode...I'll love it even more. The install itself looks pretty clean in my opinion.

PS....but if you are planning on doing one of these in a Gen 4....be sure that you know the correct interface cable for your phone, be sure that if you have the controls on your steering wheel and want them to work...that's ANOTHER cable you have to buy....etc. I guess my advice would be to do your homework given your particular setup and make sure you had everything you needed. I had no idea it was so in depth and had so many options that requred separate cables. :faint2:

I'm thinking of getting an appradio 3 and have been reading up on them. You actually don't need to use the pioneer cable. You need 3 cables for iPhone 5: lightning to USB (the one that came with your phone), lightning digital av converter (from apple), and an hdmi cable.

Glad to see others like this radio, I'm about to order one for my '06 SR5
