Hello, I just bought a 2000 4runner with 64000 miles on it. I plan on in the next few weeks doing a timing belt water pump all that good stuff. Is there anything else that i should be doing to the truck. I will post pics of the new toy later on.

Uhh, timing belt on a 2000 is only due after 90K. I let my '99 go 120K. Unless you have a coolant leak or WP problem, I don't see why you need to do this now. I would do all fluids, including coolant, brake and power steering, plus plugs, wires, and air, oil and fuel filters. Then I'd check steering, suspension, pads and shoes, adjust rear brakes and e-brake and call it good.

The only wear parts I changed prior to 64K were the tires--hated those GD Goodyear Wranglers. If it's a slushbox, search strawberry milkshake and bypass the stock tranny cooler--this is urgent.

I picked the 4runner up for $8500 it was a friend of the family. And she was the only owner.

I was thinking about doing the timing belt only because of the age of the truck. I will also look at doing all the fluids also, before i picked up the truck i did some research and saw all the posts about the tranny fluid and anti-freeze mixing. luckily the previous owner just put new tires on it so i saved myself some money there.

Nice score! I would probably spend the money on all the other maintenance related items first before doing the timing belt stuff.

Beautiful! On our non-interference engines, changing the timing belt isn't usually an urgent / anxiety-inducing gamble. Timing belt breaks, the truck just slows down and stops.

On interference engines (like my Nissan), it really is throwing the dice if you neglect the timing belt. Timing belt breaks, and you're talking full top-end replacement, possibly more.

Yes it is 4wd. I live in upstate new york there is no way i would have bought a 2wd with all the snow we get.
