Thought I would show you guys my new rack. :thumb3:
Its a ROLA Vortex rack and I made custom brackets so that the rack sits low.

Next is a custom light rack extension or just mount lights to the rack. Also make shovel and hi-Lift mounts.
What do you guys think?

That Looks Beautiful...thats the one I want...definitely I will be getting one before my next roadtrip to Texas.... I need one ...I struggled a lot the last time. I need my cargo space available.

Congrats...It looks Sweet. That is with the extension right?...dang that looks good!...

Also how was the pricing and who did you end up getting it from if I may ask. I noticed that on rolas website they only have specific month/year for fitting 4runners in their case only up to '96. Was that a problem to mount? Just curious I'm sure any of it could be modded to fit though.

Thanks inadvance and it looks real good. Congrats.

nice roof rack dude, i have the same rack and similar back up lights but mine are on the roof rack... i thought bout doing some custom low profile mounts too but havent gotten a chance. Can u post a pic so i can see wat u did?

bulger22: u can get it cheapest at etrailer.com since it is only $160 for the rack (if u want the extension its another $57) and free shipping.

i think skydivingdude has the same one, ive always wanted that one too, it sits lower than the loadwarrior , surco and looks sick!

Thanks guys,
Here are more pictures of the brackets.
After a lot of trial and error.
what i did is got 2 L shaped metal plates & bolted them together in a Z shape. then used the stock bolt to mount it to the factory rails. To mount the rack to the brackets i used a U bolt and used loctite on everything.

I picked up the rack off craigslist for $130 then i got the Extension for $50.95 at etrailer.com, with a coupon.

The Rola rack is a Universal and comes with mounting hardware fits round, square and most factory OEM racks

etrailer has the rack with free shipping.

Hey good job with the brackets! One question that comes to mind is how much weight will it handle with those brackets?

No matter though...great job on the lights and basket!:reddance:

dude, i was thinking the same thing! brackets look a little thin and weak for ~130lbs of weight.

Very good point, thats a lot more pressure on the joints but i'm not going to put my tire up there. I'm going to build a rear bumper with a tire carrier. When i get back from my vacation i'm going to remake the brackets with steel and a lot thicker. I have sum miner adjustments to distribute the weight a little better & want it to sit a little lower. I will keep you guys up dated, these brackets will do for the mean time
