I like this design, another nice alternative to the YUUUUUGGGEEEE rear plate bumper options. Any idea of the weight of the bumper (without spare and fuel can)? :thumb:
One thing I noticed: It could be an trick of the lense, but is the swingout frame contacting the factory rear bumper behind the tire/in the middle in the second pic you posted of series of three showing it coated black?

^ this. Looks great and the tube arm is a nice unique touch.

Nice to finally see more bumper options coming out almost 10 years after they ended the 4th gen :P

Should be 2 more bumper options being released early 2018 as well. (Mine (hybrid) and one from Northwest Trail Innovations (plate)

No there's no contact. The only time anything touches is when it's completely opened and the tire touches the side of the bumper

The 4th gen was surely the neglected aftermarket generation. I think the softer lines turned people away. Despite this the 4th generation 4runner sold more than ANY other generation, including the 5th generation. I just don't get it.

Even the GX has more aftermarket support than the 4th gen it feels like. (And the GX has even softer lines) Seems bizarre, especially since the 4th gen is such a rock solid platform to build on.

The only issue is really the rear body panels for both the bumper and for larger tires. For a full-plate bumper, it goes up high and doesn't blend well with the body. And for going 35s+, the rear door is part of the fender which makes trimming awkward.

Now that we finally have more bumper options, now all that needs to be released is a clean snorkel

not to bad, I like that you dont have to get a whole new bumper with the added weight, my first thought was, woow that really covers up the taillight.. I wonder if they could move the tire more center, as not to hinder the brake/turn signal? to many rookie cops would ticket me for it lol
 
Looks good! What did they charge for the fab work?

I'm sure your not driving around with full fuel cells. LMAO. People need to relax.
 
Very nice! I like the all round tube construction. Wish I had experience with bending, so went with square tube and some trig to DIY mine :)

Some input on yours 1) does the tire cover the tail light? I think this is an issue for some states if your guy looks to sell these nationwide. 2) How is the sway when going over bumps front to back of the vehicle? Any bounce at all? This was a big issue for me that involved some clever supports and trussing. 3) You should add some sort of pull pin to limit how far the carrier opens/to hold it open on hills. I got this pull pin from RuffStuff, just need to install it.
