New Runner

Hey everyone,

I've been browsing this forum for a few months now and I'm finally a day or two away from picking up my Runner. I most likely will be taking delivery of a White 05 V8 SE 4WD with the sunroof and JBL system. I will also be ordering the wheels you see below in the next day or two along with either a gibson or TRD exhaust. Im thinking Gibson becuase I really dont want to drive around without my spare tire. I have alot of plans for this truck so any opionions will be appreciated. Thanks!

Nice choice in wheels! They'll look good on a white Runner. Have you thought about waiting for the 06's to come out? There are quite a few changes (mostly minor) being made that would be nice to have. Welcome to the board!

Thanks I hope they will give it a real aggressive look. I dont need an 06, the price I got on this 05 is $29,900 before tax, tags, and a $279 processing fee. The MSRP was about $35,500.

I will be adding leather by Classic Soft Trim and an Eclipse Nav unit as well in the next month or so.

Eric,
Good luck with the new 4Runner. You got a nice package at a good price. If you take off the spare you may have trouble with the low pressure warning sensor.

Black wheels always look good off the vehicle, but look like dirty wheels on. I haven't seen a set on a vehicle yet that look right. Just my personal opinion.

Hmmm...I was thinking the same thing. How about someone photoshop the wheels on a white runner to see what it would look like.

I think wheels that are completely black look bad, makes them look like steelies. But the black wheel with a deep-dish polished (chrome?) lip I think will look really good.

Someone suggested a photoshop of those wheels which would be cool. Im really liking the TRD exhaust but I dont think it's worth missing a spare tire for. Might just settle for the Gibson. I'll try and post some pics of the new toy tomorrow!

The 4Runner has a full sized spare tire.

If you want to keep the spare tire usable, try to keep the new tire tire diameter close to the stock size. With full time 4WD you do not want a larger or smaller spare tire.

Stock 265/65/17 is 30.6". This calculator can help out.

I think he's saying that you need to remove to spare to use the TRD upgrade, that does not sound correct?

Correct

But to keep the stock spare usable, the new wheel/tire combo should be near the stock size, regardless of the exhaust. If those wheels are 18", 275/55/18 tires would work well.

Also need to consider the wheel offset to prevent rubbing.

The new wheels will be 20 inch. Im trying to figure out what would be the best tire size to get with this package. The truck is soo sweet. It had 1 mile on the odometer when I drove it off the lot!
