New savage Offroad rear bumper

Let me say that Roy is one of my best friends. The guy has been swamped with work but being a small business tried to be a part of the black Friday sale thing and ran into some last minute problems with the laser cutter on his prototype. That being said he is just trying to live the American Dream and work for himself and has been successful at it too. Go a bit easier man. He has feelings too and has been working his butt off...
I have been self employed as a financial advisor for over 22 years and must say that those who have never worked for themselves pass judgment too quickly on those of us who earn our paycheck one customer at a time rather than punching a card for the man working 9 to 5.
That being said he has heard you guys and is reworking the design, This letter is going out to all his clients.
Dear Customers,
Our number one goal, here at Savage Off-Road is customer service. We are not happy if our customers are not happy. In a rush to try to get a rear bumper out to you before Black Friday we released a bumper that still needed some work.
We have heard your feedback and have decided to take a step back, change a few things and release it the right way.
We are temporarily pulling our rear bumpers from the site and are going to make modifications to the new hybrid to address some of the concerns we have heard.
Here are our plans...
- Hitch - we will be adding a non-rated hitch to the bumper with no additional cost
- Swingout - we will be releasing the bumper and swingout at the same time.
- Sale - when we are satisfied and happy with the modifications we have made, we will offer the pre-release to this group first at the 25% off discount. We will then release to the public at the Black Friday discount (20% off). We will give plenty of advance warning on the pre-sale date.
We appreciate your feedback, patience and understanding. We are in the business of making customers happy with best products we can offer. We strive to continue selling products that are Made in America and made with our customers use and interests in mind.

Thanks for posting that masson74. I'm glad to hear the news and most likely will purchase with the changes mentioned. I've only talked to Roy over the phone once and a few emails but I appreciate his work and am a satisfied customer.

I don't see where there was really any bashing going on, just people voicing what they had expected/wanted out of the new savage bumper that has had our hopes up.

Completely agree. I think we where more surprised how the bumper was going to be released after so much waiting and high hopes.
I still dont like seeing SAVAGE right in the middle of the bumper. I know I can be a savage but dont want to put it on blast. Hoping for a solid clean bumper with no ones mark on it.
I'd like to voice my experience with savage offroad.
I purchased a rear bumper from Roy early this year and had the chance to meet him in person. He's a cool guy to talk to. His welds are on point and clean. Rear bumper had a perfect fitment with no issues during installation.
Unlike other companies out there who continuously lie about their lead times, Roy's lead times were accurate. He responds to your emails in a timely manner.
I hope his new swingout tire carrier is compatible with his rear tube bumper.
Can't wait to see his final product.

I have the full Savage skid set, and I still thing they are the best design available for my needs. I've been very interested in the rear tube bumper, and once I saw that he was working on the hybrid, I decided to wait for that. Here is what I really like about the tube bumper design, AND what I'm hoping to get in the hybrid:
- Great departure angle at the back and to the side "wings"
- looks to have the right amount of gap to the body, so that when the body flexes on the rubber mounts it shouldn't smash into the frame mounted bumper. Some bumpers are too close to the body.
- hitch with max departure angle(mandatory for me)
- spare tire fits in original location
- awesome support for the side "wings". Some of the other designs out there don't appear to have enough support in this area.
- Bolt on
- great price for the tube bumper, hope it carries over to the hybrid

I have Roy's hybrid front bumper, the fit & quality exceeded my expectations! Besides a great product Savage offers top notch customer service. Before i placed my order Roy took the time from his busy schedule and answered all my questions. When i received the 1st bumper it arrived damaged from the shipper so i declined it. I called Roy to notify him of the issue and he quickly shipped me a replacement. I'm kinda glad he pushed back the release date of the rear bumper because i want the swing out and with Xmas creeping up fast i don't think i would've been able to "pull the trigger" and take advantage of the sale price.
The swingout will be a extra money on top of the bumper. So it will be probably, my guess around $1000

So I saw the rebuild of the hybrid post comments and I must say it looks great. Its has a hitch and Roy got rid of the savage off-road on the back plate. The holes are still there to save weight (this was a big goal of Roy's as so many aftermarket bumpers are SOOOOO Heavy). He is in the process of now working on the swing out. I think guys will like the changes as I know I did. I'll let you guys know more when I find out more as I see Roy about twice a week.

The rear bumper is done!!!
The swing out is coming along nicely. I went and saw the progress today. He is almost done with the short single swing out that can be mounted on either side. I was able to give a little input to him on the latch and he has decided to go with a really heavy duty double locking latch. An excellent choice.
The configurations with this thing will be very adjustable and able to use rotopax mounted to the center of the spare carrier. He is still thinking off offering a long and short swingout, or just one or two shorts on the swing out configuration. He is thinking of offering an adjustable basket as well that could hold Gerry cans or a gas can or a small cooler. I am getting pretty excited. I am going back to his house on Friday to see where he is at on it. He still won't let me post any pics. Sorry guys. PLEASE DONT CALL AND ASK HIM QUESTIONS AS THIS ONLY SLOW HIM DOWN.
