Yes they made a template of my back and sculpted the foam to match my back. We test fit the seats a few weeks ago and they sanded the foam until it was a perfect match. New seat heaters were installed and cover the entire seat back so my shoulders will get heat when I drive that way my back won't cramp as much. The rest of the seats were sculpted as well but to less extent so they would be comfortable for a wide range of people to sit it. The rear seat is the most dramatic change in foam addition. The side bolstering was increased by almost two inches in thickness so the rear passengers will be supported much the same as the front seat.
The trim of the seats are wrapped in matching leather as well. Floor is going to by charcoal vinyl and we added a 12v power point for each seat location as well. The entire cabin is sound proofed. They also installed 8 Rock lights in the ceiling as well. Got tired of not having enough light. They are wired to the middle and rear dome light switches. There is a bunch of other little things that are being done over the next few days as well. They should be done with everything on Friday. If that happens will post more photos.

The sound proofing is by far the most expensive thing. The vinyl floor is from ACC and was only $400 ish the leather is katzkin. Custom foam was $200 per seat. I am afraid to see what all the rest cost. Don't have a final bill yet. I think it will be close to what I paid for the truck. But I got a great deal on the truck because the interior was destroyed by a dog and mice. Even with this and front and Rear bumpers and everything else I have done I should have less than 20k into truck. Which is 6k less than the Polaris I was looking before deciding to get the 4Runner. So my wife saved a bunch by agreeing to this.

This is really awesome. I have been debating whether I want to get a nice car or a beat up one and fix it up like you. I really like the walnut dash and car seat. What kind of thing did they put on the dash for that? And what kind of shop did you go to to get all this work done?
The dash was first painted by a body shop with special paint that would stick to the plastic and it was painted in Toyota flat black so it would perfectly match the rest of the trim. The wood dash came from Sherwood designs out of Toronto. I went to a custom interior shop that build custom hot rod show cars. By far my project is the least expensive they have done in a while. The car waiting to be done after mine has an unlimited budget. The seats in that car will cost more than my interior and truck combined. The craftsmanship that they are doing is show car quality. It is truly amazing to see what they are doing. I stop by and just gawk at the cars waiting to be done.

Couple more photos. Please note these were done without a flash, this is just how bright the rock lights illuminate the interior. The pics of hooks are of heavy duty hooks that are attached to the rear coat hook brackets that have been reinforced to hold a substantial amount of weight. In the windows are strap hooks that are attached to new brackets so I can hang a gear hammock across the truck. This will allow me to keep a coat in the car and not have my dog use it as a blanket. I had the same hooks placed in the sunroom area so I can attach a cargo net in there as well to hold maps and hats.

I thought I was the only one thinking this way.
I had a 2000 model, but it was my wife's mainly so I didn't pay that much attention to the seats.
Last week I bought a 2007 model. On test drives for short distances I thought the seats were fine for my ergos. Man was I wrong!
I've been in a bit of buy remorse for the last few days 'cause I have back pains where I didn't have them before. The seat is far more concave, both vertically and horizontally, than I thought. The lumbar support on the power seat is of little help because the issue is 'stem to stern'.
I may need to post a new "Custom Seats" thread somewhere to get at the issue. A QUESTION: are the seats in all 4th generation trims/models the same, shape-wise? or are there materially different seats in, say, Limited Sport model? Are there any custom turnkey seats that someone here just loves? Will seats from 'sibling' vehicles fit the 4th gen i.e. similar year Lexus GX or LX, or Land Cruiser or ?? Highlander?
I have a 2006 Camry SE that was about the most comfortable seat I have ever driven, and I stuck with it for 272K miles thus far. I had a BMW 3 series that had a fabulous seat, but the rest of the ergos way too cramped. the Camry is more long-drive comfortable, less fatiguing. I was surprised to take measurements and see that the Cam seat is wider, both at the mounts and at the seat bottom and backrest. also effectively taller, as the 4Runner has a devilish hump at the very upper part of the seatback, horizontally, that pushes that part of the anatomy away from the rest of the seat [i'm 6'2" and long in the torso].
what suggestions?

also... diff subject: what sort of noise were you trying to dampen with the soundproofing mods? Did you look into 'painting' the wheel wells and under pans with "Silent Running" or other material? I hate road rumble with a blind passion.... The GX's I drove were better in that regard but the diff wasn't as dramatic as I had hoped. road rumble is hard to tame but body-on-frame vehicles are the best hope. though I haven't tried them seriously, I have been told the later model Ford Pickups are "quiet as a tomb".. I had a Lexus LX330 that was a noisy as the Camry [a fact a lot of owners have whined about]. I drove recently a lexus LS from the same era and it was less rumbly, but not impressively so. I had a GMC Sierra that was quiet road-noise-wise but it didn't matter because the wind noise was awful at higher speed:sad:
I had the seat done at a custom car upholstery shop. The sound proofing was designed to make the vehicle more quiet overall but it's main goal was better thermo regulation. I found that without rear temperature controls it was hard to heat and cool the rear seats. I used a product called thermozite which is a great insulator and has a high r factor. All interior surfaces have at least 2 layers but the roof has 4 layers and the doors have up to 5 layers. Now it is easy to cool and heat the rear area. No more whining kids. The seats are amazing. We just got back from a 2000 mile three day road trip and no sore back

The biggest issue we found when we refoamed the seats was the lumbar support was about 5 inch to low. The factory lumber adjuster is a mechanical rotating arm that's pushes on the back rest springs. The problem is that is push the lumbar out at the seat base only making the problem worse. We unhooked mine. Other than that once the lumbar was moved to the correct location the rest of the seat fit pretty well. We changes the seat cushion a bit adding foam to the rear of it so that it was much more level. It was built so that it is level. That way when the seat back is reclined to 110 degrees there is a 110 degree angle between the femur and the spine which is the optimal ergonomic seating position. At this angle the spine is fully and evenly supported by the seat back. It is amazing how not fatiguing the seats are now. We drove 12 hours straight with only stops for fuel last Friday and when we finally set camp I was not tired or sore. Before I had the seat redone every 1-1.5 hours I was crawling out of the truck and constantly shifting position to reduce pressure and get ride of the numbness in my legs. Having the seats shaped was the best money I have spent of a vehicle. The rest was just icing on the cake.
