New shift actuator install having issues.

Raging Canuck

long story short. I installed a new shift actuator on my 07 4Runner v8 last night everything went great until i tried shifting into 4lo and got the grinding noise a few other have had. When it started grinding I shifted it into neutral and turned off the truck. when this was happening the 4lo light was blinking, when I turned the truck back on and try to shift into 4lo the light doesn't come on at all and the actuator doesn't even try to shift into 4lo. Center diff lock works great and shifts easy. Any suggestion?

Mine grinded the first time I used it after the new actuator install as well. It wad also slightly loud the first maybe 5 or 6 times, really clunked. Then was smooth. Assuming you installed it correctly, make sure it's in N and keep switching it back and forth, it will work

UPDATE: found out the switch was disconnected. now the problem is 4lo won't engage. light just keeps blinking.

Just checking the basics, is the vehicle stopped and in neutral, and the drivetrain isn't in a bind?

On the other hand, it may help to have the vehicle slowly rolling (in neutral) to get it to shift to 4Low. I'm talking like .5 mph barely rolling.

Yeah I agree, move the truck the tranny is prob right at the sweet spot in a bind, same with when it won't disconnect, I put it back in lo move a lil then reengage to go and it works. And no matter How many times it's always a relief lol
