New Shocks

First of all I want to say I'm glad to be a new member. My question is can I change out my front shocks with out having to remove my front coils. I'm thinking of changing them out for adjustable OME shocks. Had new shoes replaced and they told me the front shocks are leaking. Good time to replace them.

The front coils come off with the shocks. Not a big deal to do, just a little prying.

Old Man Emu shocks/coils aren't adjustable. They give u ~2" of lift.

The shock and coil are in an assembly, held together by a top plate, lower mount (on the shock) and held in place by a single top nut.

You can remove the assembly by removing the 3 smaller nuts on top, and one large bolt on the bottom. Using your bottle jack under you rear seat, you can place it upsidedown inbetween the top of the wheel well, and the castle nut on the upper a-arm to push the spindle down and gain easier access.

What baja runner is saying is that you can get the shock out of the assembly using that method, which means you wouldnt have to use the spring compressing tool. I know somewhere on here theres a write up on how to do it that way. I just rented the tool from autozone. Many will say its dangerous because of how much pressure the spring is under. But I just took my time and did it the right way and it went smoothly
