New Shoes! Pro Comp 8069's and GY Duratracs

Only took 3 weeks for them to get here; gotta love shipping to AK ...

While opinions of the Duratracs seem to be a bit polarized I can safely add my name to the "for 'em" side. These tires are awesome! I only have about 100 miles on them so far but they ride great, with low noise, and have excellent traction in snow. They replaced some 245/75R16 Mastercraft Courser MSR's that were on the truck when I purchased it. The Goodyear's have a smoother ride and much better snow and ice traction. The Mastercraft's still had a solid amount of tread left; I just sold 'em this morning along with the stock wheels on Craigslist.

After much debate I got size 265/75R16 in load range C and couldn't be happier. And they look sweeeet!

Looks great. What made you choose the wranglers? I am looking for new tires now and currently lost between best balance of price and quality.
 
This setup seems to be getting pretty popular... I have the same setup on my 'runner, except 285's and they're E-range. You wont be disappointed. I've yet to try mine out in the snow, but I can hardly wait. I was amazed how quiet they are too, and I've had several comments from passengers as well. Lookin' good man, congrats! :bigok:
 
Thanks guys; I'm pretty happy with it.

As far as why I chose the Duratracs ... I was looking for a tire that had a little bit of everything. Aggressive tread, good road manners, snow capabilities, and I'd be lying if I didn't include a burly appearance. These tires also had a lot of solid reviews on here and other forums with most of the negativity it seemed coming from larger full-size pickups.

While I'm all about saving a buck (I work at a bank ...) I would much rather spend a little extra to get quality and exactly what I'm looking for. That holds double for crucial components like tires.
 
AFAIK duratracs have the most look of an MT tire in an AT package,also they are studdable, so that's another plus......they just might be my next tire purchase.

that setup is looking really good. are you lifted at all?
 
Congrats man. They really do look nice. Where did you get them from for them to be already installed when shipped?
 
I got them from 4wheelparts.com. If you end up buying through them google around for discount codes; I saved a couple hundred bucks that way.

And no, I'm not lifted at all; just the ditch-the-running-boards-psuedo-lift. I am still on the fence as to whether or not I'm going to lift it. On the one hand I'd be able to brap around more stuff and it looks sweet. On the other hand I don't do all that much "wheeling" and I can think of better ways to spend a grand.

Meh, we'll see what spring brings ...
 
I've had mine since Oct. '09 and have close to 10k miles on 'em and I have no complaints and they seem to be wearing nice and even for the little wear there is.
And have been solid in the rain and snow.

If you won't wheel....imo, lifts are over-rated. Sure it looks cool like you said, but from a practical standpoint, a lift is kind of annoying. Harder to get into and out of the vehicle (especially with kids), higher center of gravity, and it makes 265/75R16's look too small. And 265/75's are a perfect tire size for the 4Runner from a power, economy, availability and appearance standpoint.

My .02 on lifts. I'll only lift my rig when it's my second vehicle. I don't consider myself lifted right now, although I suppose some people might.



BTW! Your rig looks great! I normally don't like bullbars...but it give a nice place to mount your lights, so I'm digging it.
