You are very new then to the world of autos...

The stick shift looking thing next to your automatic gear shift is the lever you use to engage 4 Wheel Drive.

How do i know if its in neutral or not? =p

There should be a little "map" on top of the stick. If it's in 4-wheel drive it will light up on the dash (a little outline of the vehicle).

I would encourage you to check the glove box for the owners manual too.....there will be important information about using the stick in question.

Yea i am =p thanks alot my mom seems to lost the whole manual so i came here for wonderful hope from everyone

if you are in 2wd then the stick should be in the 2hi position and then just pull it straight back to 4hi will be 4wd for most of your street conditions (snow and ice) and then to put it in 4lo you must put the auto tranny in N then push the stick to the right then forward into 4lo which would most likely be for off roading or severly stuck situations.

Does your truck have a read diff lock which the button would be located just to the left of the steering column marked in red RR DIFF LOCK which can only be engaged in 4lo and is used for more difficult off roading or to get unstuck.

....if you can drive to the local Toyota dealer ask one of the service techs to show you. much easier in person..... be careful driving there. if you hear any weird noises, pull over and stop. we we ALL where you are right now once upon a time.:happy bda
