New Stock size Tires on 2010 LE - Vibration

Hi All,

I found a few threads on this but most applied to aftermarket wheels. I just had a set of Dueller Alenza (245/60/20) installed by Tires Plus. After taking it out on the highway I got a lot of vibration at ~55. I can take a back for a re-balance but I want to make sure I suggest the right way of balancing the 20" wheels due to them be lug-centric (as I think I have gathered from my reading here).

The first time they did it they appeared to have used up to 2 oz of weight per wheel (8 - 1/4oz bars) which seemed like a lot.

When I went back to the first store they said that I had to go to the a different store because their adapter for my type of wheel was broken, so is it most likely they didn't have the Haweka adapter in the first place?

Factory wheels are hub centric. Have them road force balanced.

No, as long as they have cones that will fit 106 bore, they should be able to balance it.

From my experience(s) with Tires Plus stores here in the twin cities area, balancing tires is not something they seem to know how to do very well. The location that I bought my last tires from did not even have a Hunter Road Force balancer. After repeated tries, I finally went to an independent garage that had the RF balancing equipment... only took them one time to get it right. Good luck.

I would guess it would be the balance as well and seriously doubt it's a manufacturer flaw. it might be worth a trip to the local Toyota dealer as they will most likely get it right the first time.

I think you might be the first person who has posted about this tire in this size, as it only came out in this size recently. Not to get off-topic, but how do the dueler alenzas look, especially in terms of width, on the limited? According to specs, they have a 7.7 inch tread width whereas the stock Yokohamas have a 7.3 inch tread width and the stock dueler H/Ts have a 7.5 inch tread width. It’s not a huge difference, but since they should have flatter tread section and more of a square shoulder, I thought they could look noticeably wider. If we stay with the stock size, which we most likely will since the limited is my wife’s primary vehicle, I would definitely get the dueler alenzas. They are excellent tires for strictly on-road use.

After visiting a different Tires Plus location, they got it right. The tech said "I should be a lot happier" as I was leaving. After I look a look at the wheels the weights had all been moved, so the first place got it very wrong.
