If you have the sunroof fixed while under warranty and then it fails again after your warranty has expired...would the 2nd repair still be covered?

If you have the sunroof fixed while under warranty and then it fails again after your warranty has expired...would the 2nd repair still be covered?

I think the standard coverage is for a one year warranty angainst defective materials. But labor wouldn't be covered outside the standard warranty, unless you had an extended warranty/service contract.

So if at year 2 and 6 months, you had to get the sunroof cables replaced, and then 8 months later the sunroof cables again had to be replaced, only the parts are warranted.

Correct me of I'm wrong.

I think it depends on the service department. If you have a record of ongoing problems with a part, my experience is that a service department will try to make it a warranty repair if it fails again within a reasonable amount of time after the last fix. YMMV.

Took them a day and a half to fix it...just got it back...glad to get rid of that Corolla loaner(although it did have a nicer steering wheel and RDS on the radio)


I opened and closed the roof several times and it seems smooth...hope it lasts.

Thinks its time to get an extended warranty though!

Had my sunroof not close on my 2005 SR5 also.

Brought it to the dealer and they ordered motor and cables...I'm waiting for the parts to arrive.

I have about 2000 miles left till I am out of warranty so I am definitley thinking of getting the Platinum Extended warranty.


Will update when its fixed.
