I want to say I saw a thread years ago about someone finding a company that made rubber seals and he found one that was very close to our sunroofs. Of course, like many threads, he never followed up. If I can find that thread, I'll share. My seal is fine, but I do make it a point to apply some treatment on it to try to make it last. Sunroofs get a very bad rap and I believe it is simply b/c folks do not maintain them.
What I do is :
1) open it occasionally (make the motor and cable work)
2) clean out any debris you find.
3) grease the tracts (with WD40 or white lithium grease, I personally don't like it b/c it dries and when sprayed, gets everywhere)
4) Apply some sort of protectant (Amor-All, Meguiar's back to black, 303 protectant, WHATEVER) on the rubber perimeter of the glass.
5) Clean (duh) the glass inside and out and apply some RainX on the outside.
Been doing this since our family had cars (we've had many of them) with the "modern sunroofs" since I was 15 (I'm 45 now) and we've NEVER a sunroof problem. And yes, our family keeps cars until they fall apart.
