New System Buzzing ?

I just finnished a new install on my '07 T4R and have a faint buzzing from the tweeters. I have an Alpine 9857 H/U and it didn't buz when I was driving the stock speakers. Now that I've installed an amp and components up front I'm getting the Buz.

Even with the head unit OFF. It doesn't get louder with engine RPM or if I turn up the volume.

The system is composed of an:
Alpine 9857 H/U
Alpine MRP-F450 amp
Polk MMC6500 components up front
Orion 5.25 coaxials in the rear
(1) JL Audio 8W0

The amp is driving the front speakers and bridged for the sub.

The system sounds great, just can't figure out the buzzing when the shits off.

I am troubleshooting the exact same problem right now on my new install. I think it has to be grounding error, but I can't seem to figure out why.

My amps are grounded separately to the floor of the car under the seats.
My head unit and ipod controller ground wires are both are connected to the ground wire from the 20-pin connector.

First post... but not new to the forum. I've been reading threads for over 6 months... when I bought my 2006 4Runner.

I just encountered this problem when upgrading the speakers in my 4Runner. I had the crossovers tucked up in the upper kick panels and was getting noise.

I unhooked everything from the head-unit to amplifier and still had the buzzing when the vehicle was running. Then I remembered I had this problem before... the crossovers seem to be a magnet for electrical noise. The buzzing went away as soon as I moved the crossovers away from all power wires. I tucked them under the carpet on the floor in the upper corners and everything is good now.

Could be a ground loop...

Try grounding your head unit and the amp at the same location..mayb even power also..Its tricky, but it may solve the problem..

Try some ground-loop isolators from a nearby car-audio shop, and put them in-line the RCAs...

... I should mention that when I was troubleshooting my buzzing issue and was unhooking every component I was trying to isolate the components for a bad ground.

Bad grounds are usually the issue with whining and buzzing. In my case I ended up unhooking every component. The speakers were not hooked up to anything and they still would buzz when the truck was running.

For me it was the cross-overs picking up noise.

my honest suggestion...Ditch the alpine, and go with the polk c400.4

i have the same speakers and i use the polk 4 channel to run just the pair of components...you actually ditch the passive crossover
and use the amp as an active crossover...sounds much, much better IMHO

much less tinny, which is common with passive X-OVERS

Buzzing

Thanks for the responces. I think the Cross over location may be the problem. The kick panel on the '07 are full of wireing and I really had to fight to get them in and the panel back in place.

I'll get back into it this weekend.

yea that is defff a problem area for electrical noise, your BCM is right above that behind the glovebox too...

Try mounting the X-OVER under the seats or something
