New T4R owner - 07 hitch question

Hello, I am new to this forum. Thanks for having me.
I just purchased a '07 4runner SR5 with 55k miles.

I have looked under the rear bumper and I see an electrical outlet for a hitch but no hitch is installed. (Maybe this is standard, I don't know) (I have tried to search forums for this question but didn't feel that it was answered properly ,sorry if this is a duplication)

Can I install an aftermarket or OEM hitch and cut out the bumper? I feel like the 4runner's with the hitch sitting below the bumper are not stock looking. What would you recommend? Is it hard to make a cut-out on the bumper?

The light plug is standard...

You could do as you suggest. Most opt for a Curt or Hidden Hitch. The Hidden Hitch has a higher weight rating like the factory V8 hitch. If you plan to use a weight distributing hitch or would have occasion to run a high tunge weight you may want accept the 'non-factory' look.

The factory V8 hitch has the higher weight rating too. It resides below the bumper too. There's a link in my sig.

Hidden Hitch doesn't require a cutout or look stock.

I think mine looks damned ugly. What's more their customer support sucked ass.

Do a search on threads related to hitches. There are several, and at least one that I remember has some pics of various member rides with hitches installed. I would suggest going to the E-trailer site and look at their various models.
