New Throttle Body?

I decided to clean the IACV on my 2000 Limited 4X4 because she wouldn't start anymore. I decided to go this route because before at a cold start, she'll fire up just fine. But when she's warm, she kind of struggle to start and the idle is really low and you have to give it a little gas to get it up to normal. So that's my story.

When I got the IACV removed from the throttle body I found that the throttle body is corroded from where the coolant runs. And if you look closely on the picture on the bottom where I placed the drill bit, the groove where the gasket sits has been eaten up.

I'm assuming I'm going to need a new throttle body? Any input is gladly appreciated, thanks in advance.

If that's what jut the IAC valve looks like, I can't imagine how the rest of your engine looks...

If it didn't leak before, there looks to be enough material to keep the gasket in place. A little water pump sealant will help it stay tight. Throttle bodies are surprisingly expensive.

I'm not convinced your TB is your problem. How long does the motor struggle on a hot start? If it's a few moments, check for leaky injectors. If it's a few minutes, a bad intake air temp sensor can do it. Or other things. But those came to mind.

I saw a used oem on eBay for $80. But yeah I know what you mean about the corrosion. The engine has 180K and she still runs pretty strong.

As of now, before I took off the throttle body, the car wouldn’t start anymore. But before on a hot start it’ll start but the idle would just be low and once u give it a little gas, the idle stays normal.

Seems like you have more issues than just the throttle body.

Regardless, I have one off a '99 I can get to you pretty cheap if you need it.

Tell me about it . I’m going try to clean it up and buy a new gasket and apply some RTV. I might as well do a coolant flush right after. Thank you.
