new tire decision on my 99 limited , need help

i have a 99 limited with elocker and toytec ultimate and 1'' body lift .
stock tires look bad with the lift so I'm about to pull the trigger on some new tires . I'm getting 285/75/16 on the stock wheels ,

i have a friend that can get me a sweet deal on goodyears , not sure what to get . this is not a DD , more of a weekend wheeler and going on the beach with the family .

the 2 choices are duratracs or the mtr with kevlar . looked at them 10 times and cant decide which to get .

dont want them to be too loud on the road (some road noise will be ok) when with the family but would also like the extra traction of the mt 's . but also will see some sand since i take it on occasionally on the beach .

please help me decide , i have changed my mind every time i looked at them !

Both are great offroad.

Duratracs kill it in the snow and the MTRs suck in snow. So based on the fact that you live in NY I would recommend the duratracs.

Also the MTRs are usually more expensive.

Be sure to use the threadlightly and goodyear rebates, they add up to $160.

I am partial to the Duratrac's. I purchased a set last winter and now have 20,000 miles on them. The tires are still like new, with very little wear. I live in Michigan and my truck rocks in the snow. No regrets. The tires are fairly quiet considering the aggressive tread design. However, expect some noise, especially as the tires begin to wear. I believe the MT's are going to be noisier.

How are the duratracs in the mud ? I know they are not a mud tire , had a set of bfg all terrain ko's and they clogged up in the mud really bad .

haven't had a chance to have fun time with the Duratracs yet. just put them on a few weeks ago. Have a good friend up in the hills of CO that put a set of 285's on his Taco and his report is very good in deep snow and mud. He hesitantly put them on instead of the BFG AT's. He assures me he did not regret the decision. They clean out extraordinarily well.

I'd put MTRs on it. MTRs have great reviews and it's not your DD. Duratracs are more of a snow tire than an off road tire.

Snow and street driving= Duratracs
Off road and decent road manners= MTRs

I was in goodyear about to get the mtr but he gave me a really good deal on the duratracs . $ 184 a tire for 33's because he had them in stock and told me they aren't a popular size . Plus I go on the beach and its deep sand around here and I heard the mtr s aren't that good in deep sand . I'm happy , they look great and are super quiet .
