New tires + HID retro'd headlights installed!

Just got it back from mounting the new tires: 265/70/17 Yoko Geolandar A/T-S, they fit pretty well with completely stock suspension. Realllly minor rubbing just before full lock on the front mudflaps inside edges, but it'll be easy to trim that corner off and prevent it. Might get a 1" front spacer instead, but I am not a fan of spacers and would rather wait for 5100's in the next year or two, so I'll probably just trim as needed for now.

Also, finally took some pics of the blacked out / un-reflectorized / LS430 projector retrofitted headlights I installed a few days ago -- will get pictures of them on at night later too, they look so nice! Perfect beam pattern and cutoff, looks like a $100k car coming down the road at night now.

Very nice. The headlights look great. Have you been on any highway's with the geolanders yet? Just wondering what the noise level is like.

Thanks, I'm really happy with them. My previous car had great HID headlights stock, and I just couldn't get used to halogens, it felt borderline dangerous driving this thing at night with the lame stock headlights after being spoiled by OEM HIDs -- so I had to do it right the first time... these headlights are truly incredible.

No I haven't taken the new tires on the highway yet, I live about 5 blocks from the tire shop I just had them installed at 20 minutes ago. I only drove it about 10 blocks so far, took it over some speed bumps really fast to see where it's rubbing and planning my cuts to the mudflaps to prevent it. I'll give a real review of the tires in a few weeks, after I take them up to Tahoe -- long highway road trip then some serious snow driving.

How come the shroud doesn't look like the stock LS430?

Oh nice, I live in the Richmond near USF. You ski or board? Always looking for more people to carpool and ride with.

I think the shroud might be from another Lexus, I'm not sure actually -- I didn't perform the retro myself, I found a great deal on the pair here (the dude who did it put his stock headlights back in to sell his truck with).

Snowboard, deciding where to go since I didn't get a season pass this year.

You have arguably the best retrofit out there (LS430 projectors). Looks like the retrofitter took advantage of the LS430's reflector too for its ultra wide beam pattern.

Though I'm not into snowboarding, the LS projectors are really nice.

I want to do a retrofit but with RX330 projectors in the near future. When you flash your hi-beams, do your HID low beams come on too? If not, how did you wire them? Anyway, good luck with them!:thumb3:

Thanks for the welcome! I actually bought them off Zenith, and used brand new DDM Tuning 4300k d2s bulbs with a hardwired harness, all plug and play. I'm still giddy about the beam pattern these things have, it's insanely wide and crisp and the colors are super intense. It really looks like some crazy expensive car's OEM setup coming at you, nice tiny circles of flickering color, no glare. Still gotta take some night pics...

Nice -- I have a season pass to Sugar Bowl, but am open to hitting up other resorts on weekends too (I have the cheap weekdays-only pass to SB, not an unlimited one). Where do you usually go?

Nice, I board too, but haven't been to Northstar yet. I wanted to take a day off late last week and hit up all that powder before the holiday weekend, but was too busy at work and couldn't swing it. Definitely avoiding going up today in the crazy crowds, but the next time there's some fresh I'm heading up for sure.

The LS430 projector's reflector bowl has a reflector on the bottom to give the beam pattern an even wider spread. Cutting the bottom of the shrouds exposes this reflector.
