New Tires?

Sup Guys,

Its that time again......Ive been running BFG A/T 31" or 265 70 16s (2nd Set). I have been very pleased with these tires with looks, traction and wear. I want to run the equivalent of a 33" and I am guessing that size would be 285 75 16? Should I stick with the BFGs or go a different route. I need a good AT that wears good and looks bad ass as well.... any suggestions?

Those are nice, semi-aggressive and look good. Here are some I currently use, am very pleased with the wear (have traveled 25k w/ 10-15% wear so far), super quite, do pretty darn well in off road conditions (mud, sand, rock, dirt) and not very expensive (700otd). Hankook ATMs - I like the tread design, fairly aggressive looking and respond off road even better. I run 'em thru rock and cactus all day. Woohoo! :banana:

I've had cooper at3's for half a year now and I've seen no wear at all. driven about 5k miles. They're an all terrain tire, suck in mud. Aggressive enough for what I do, but not too aggressive that they're yelling on the highway. I recommend. do a google search for what other people have to say about tires. "3rd gen 4runner what tires"

im not sure why you're asking. you are happy with the BFG's, get them again. I think im close to 50,000 miles on mine, and still about 50% tread left. its ridiculous actually. they will rot off the truck before they wear out.

they are my favorite tire by far.
altho, when it comes time for new tires on my 06, i'll be going with something a little less aggressive.

I'm with Nevada, I wouldn't even think about changing unless you were actually unhappy with the tires you've got. If the ATs have been treating you well, then by all means stick with 'em.

Well it does appear that way! OK, perhaps I screwed up somehow on the online pics, so I'll take my own afterwork and compare/post it here for grins. :^)

Yep, pretty happy with em and will prolly stick with em but never hurts to ask. Just wanted to see if anyone had any better luck with a different AT.

I got a set of Kenda Klevers. Half the price of all the other tires I've run and I've had double the compliments. I love them-they look badass and handle awesome.

OK, regardless of the pics I posted earlier, here is what I have. They are Hankook Dynapro ATMs (as I almost didn't think anymore). So I suppose the real question is why do Cooper's look identical in the pics above? I know some tire mfgrs share but it didn't think this much. Thoughts?

But yeah to OP, stick w/what you know/are comfortable with. Just saying there are options...

If you like the BFG ATs you'll probably like the General Grabber AT2. I had the BFGs in 32" and when I got 33s I didn't feel like shelling out the cash for BFGs plus the 285/75/16 only came in E load. The Grabbers look almost identical but were like $400 cheaper and the come in 285/75/16 D load. Performance feels about the same although the Grabbers seemed to do better in mud. I was a diehard BFG AT fan but I have no regrets after buying these.

Agreed! The grabber at2 is the best tire I have ever owned. Know plenty of people over 50k and 60k miles. Off road capabilities are far better that bfg at and I think they are much more quite in my opinion.

Have you thought about 255/85R16s....they are more if a pizza cutter tire, but I think they are 32 or 33s

By pizza cutter, do you mean skinny? Personally I like a wider tire. The grabbers seem cool. I have been doing some research on the Toyo Open Country, They're a bit cheaper than the ATs and they come with a 50K treadwear warranty. Any thoughts?

I know a lot of people like their toyos, but ive seen more failed(separated) toyos than any other tire. that's enough to keep me from ever running them.
