new tires

Hi,
I have an 06 limited 4x4 4runner that I just bought that needs new tires. I have a chance to buy some new tires for a great price but they are 275/70/18 and I am now running 265/60/18, so I used the tire calculator (great tool by the way) and it look like my speedo will be out 5 mph. I am wondering if there is any thing else I should be aware of before buying these tires or should I just say forget it and stay with the original size.

mpg will go down some, also depending on brand & type, it will be a firmer ride if they are E load. ur already lifted i hope? i think that size is 33 in., thats a jump.

Good Year Silent Armour A/T tires

I am really new at this tire stuff and there seems to be sooooo much information. I had 3 pathfinders before buying this 4runner and I always had the factory size tires on the pathfinder. This is our first 4runner and we love it, everything is stock no lift as of yet. The tires I am looking at are GY silent Armour A/T 275/70/18.

That's a lot of tire for a V6 if it's your DD. If you have a V8 you'll have enough torque that it'll drive good.

You'll need a lift and have to wrestle through minor rubbing issues.

Not so fast It'll drive good with 255/70/18's or 265/65/18's and they'll fit with with only a very minor fenderliner relocate seen at the bottom of this page. Toyota 4Runner Wheel Spacers


Those sizes may offer some serious $$$ savings and only a minimal mpg penalty (that's assuming you select an A/T vs A/S). Several have gone to one of those sizes and are enjoying better looks with a touch more ground clearance. The 255 size is gaining some momentum around here due to the full 32.1" diameter with virtually no MPG penalty.

my girlfriends 06 came with 265/65/17 , will the 255/65/17s fit ? or what is the biggest I can fit with just a 2" spacer and FJ stuff ?
