Hello, first I want to say that this Forum is great, I have been reading for a few days now and it's the best one out there. I have been a dedicated toyota owner for 5 years now, started with a 96 tacoma, then a 2000 corolla, 2002 celica, now a 04 4runner. Just bought it this week, no problems or complaints yet except it takes twice as long to wash as the celica. Everything is factory right now, bug deflector, moon roof, JBL CD, etc.. But I am planning on adding more so I will try to post pictures as I do. I have wet okole neoprene seat covers on order, should be here in 2 weeks. Well, just wanted to say I love this forum, thanks for making me feel like I'm not the only obsessive car owner out there! I'll try to post a pic, although I'm new so forgive me if it doesn't come out...

Beautiful truck!! I just got mine last week but haven't taken any pictures of it yet due to the constant rain. 
But I've got a full detailing coming to me when the rain lets up so I have that to look forward to. 
Besides a good tint job the only other thing I want to do to my truck is find a decent set of seat covers. How much were the okole's? Post some pics when you get 'em, I'd love to see how they look. Enjoy your new truck!

Congrats on your new one, what color? I love the black but I'm not lovin what the rain does to it! I just washed it on Thursday and I can't even tell now. Maybe once I put a coat of wax on, but I'm waiting awhile because it's new. I used to use maguire's on my celica, but I think I'll try Zaino's after reading some of the posts. The seat covers all together with shipping came to about 500, although I got 10% off for military discount. Can't wait to see your pics
I was a dedicated Megiuar's customer for years, then the posts got me to try Zaino's. I'm sold on it now -- it made our 97 Camry look better than new.toyogirl said:
One suggestion -- spend the extra time to clay the 4Runner first. Even though it's new, it makes a difference. It took a little over an hour to clay ours by hand (don't have a Porter-Cable).

Thanks for the tip, I thought about the clay but I have never used it or even seen it done before. I'm sure this may have been addressed before, but where can I get information on how to use it or buy it? Is it something you do every time you wash, or just before waxing? Thanks for the info
Just to save you from typing it all out, I found instructions and information about claying at the Zaino Bros web site. Thanks again for recommending, I think I'll give it a try. How long did you wait to do the new 4runner with the new paint? I've heard anything from 30 days to six months?

For some reason I can never remember the color of my truck, rather, what Toyota calls it. I think it's Galactic Gray or something like that. Anyway, it's a dark gray metallic color, very nice but also shows mucho dirto. If I had more time on my hands I would've considered a black one, but the upkeep just kills me. I'll try and get some pics real soon!

About two years ago, a body shop that did some work on a pickup told me that the clear coat needed 3 months to cure before waxing. Assuming that to be true, you'd probably need to wait 2-3 months from when you bought the truck. Maybe figure a month from manufacture to when you picked it up, leaving 2 months.
That sounds about right, although I hate waiting that long to get a coat of wax on it. I have a question, for some reason it looks like I'm getting permanent water spots on the paint and the windows, I tried washing them off and drying the truck but they don't budge. I've seen that on windows before, but never on paint, do you think it's from the water? And if so will they disappear when I do polish it or will I just be sealing them in? Sometimes I hate black paint because it drives me crazy washing it... It's a love hate relationship with my truck right now, love driving it, hate washing it...

Your 4 looks really good...I love black...almost bought a black one but decided at the last minute against it...so I settled for desert dune. I have a 2000 model. It is nice to see some other girls posting on here too! enjoy customizing her!
