Hello Group.

Just joined the 4th Generation group with a 2008 4Runner 4x4 V8 Sport Edition. 200,002 Miles

I previously owed a 2000 4Runner SR5 4x4 (164,000 miles) which I traded in 2013 for a new Ford Focus. HUGE Mistake. The Focus was a complete lemon with the DCT Transmission. But in the end I was lucky to find a great lawyer and was able to get Ford to buy back the Focus under IL lemon law!

Couldn't wait to get back into a T4R. Literally turned the car over to Ford dealer, grabbed the check and ran to the bank. Then headed over to pay cash for the 2008 same day.

I feel like I found a great deal. Got them down to $7,600. Drove 5 T4R's total and this one checked all the boxes. 2 were total garbage and asking over $9k for V6. Does have some rust but seems like it is mostly surface. And the timing belt was changed ~2,000 miles ago couple months back. I do hear a ticking in the engine bay but its not to bad. Guessing header crack or leak. Only noticable @ startup and driving next to a car/wall. Going to live with it for now. Slyfox75 AIP/SAIS bypass kit is already on-the-way.

Open to any other suggestions to make this one last.

Used this forum a ton when I own my 2000 T4R. [Not sure why my post count reset to zero. Guessing inactivity]. I'm good about using the search function before posting.

So excited to start making this my own!

Very nice! (I almost went to see that one!)

Was very skeptical when I went to see it. Price was low compared to others (V6's) in the area.

Was pleasantly surprised to see that the Timing belt was just done in December. And yeah...the frame is a lil more rusty than others...but nothing was soft (yet!). But nothing a lil TLC can't fix.

Did you find one yet?

Congrats - very nice looking rig! What upgrade do you plan on doing first?

Thanks!

Already installed the Slyfox75 AIP/SAIS bypass kit as a preventative maintenance so I consider that an upgrade.

Also installed a Pedal Commander earlier this week. And wow. Impressed with the pedal response. Still trying different levels on the PC to find my sweet spot.

Looks awesome, great find! I feel like the is the sweet spot for 4runners... 4th gen V8s. And it still has so much life in it!
