New to me 4R and Intro

What's up guys... I'm new to forum but not to Toys... I picked up a 2002 SR5 last weekend with 95k on it. I have lived in Washington state for about a 1 1/2 years now. I also have a 94 truck that's my wheeler. So not much offroading will be done in the 4Runner.

I did take the 4Runner up to Steven's pass today and I have to say that it is better than my truck in the snow. It's amazing but the traction control must go. I will mod a bit but nothing crazy. I already did the ISR and took off the 90 degree elbow. I will be doing the deckplate mod when I:
A) Find another airbox
or
B) Get ballzy enough to cut this one open.

as soon as i can afford a nice reliable DD, my 4runner will probably end up like your pickup. unfortunately my 4runner is the current nice reliable DD so no cutting it up for now

I like body damage much more than I like an exo. I'm just not a fan of exos. I should have done it a long time ago, but I need to talk the wife into letting me get a winch and bumper. Maybe during this deployment I will have my buddy do it. For the moment the truck needs a lot of love and will be going into my garage after this Christmas for some overdue repairs.

Nice rides man! BTW, cutting the airbox is not such a big deal. You just have to be meticulous about it.

I just like the idea of being able to return it to stock. I didnt want to make a thread on this because I didn't deem it important enough: Is there a large increase in induction noise when you have the deckplate mod compared to just removing the elbow?

I have the deckplate mod and a Borla exhaust...between 3800-4200 rpm you hear the intake over the exhaust...if that's any indication on how loud the deckplate mod is hahaha

as for the Traction Control issue, it will surely kill you one winter if you don't get rid of it...here's the mod that I did, it's great- it gets rid of TRAC and VSC but keeps the ABS active!

Is the Mod still applicable to a 2002... I've searched this before and found a few things like the 01 and 02 not working with the AndyMod 2.0??

EDIT: If I would have read your sig again I would have saw that you have an 01... I'm sure it is applicable then. Maybe a little reassurance is in order then?

Yup 2001 & 2002 are the same. It'll work for you.
