New to the 4th gen world

Hey everyone,
So my wife finally found a 4runner, she was set on a 3rd gen like mine until she took a 4th gen for a ride and decided that was it. I will admit its a smooth ride and I am glad she is happy. 03 Limited v8.

We want to keep hers as the road trip 4runner. I am not new to 4runners but was curious if anyone has any tips for stuff i should be looking at or things you all have done that you think would benefit her out the gate.

I am sure I will be asking more questions as I start playing around with it.

If the maintenance records are available, check to see if it's had the timing belt replaced. Toyota recommends replacing it every 90,000 miles. If the belt fails, severe engine damage could occur. If maintenance records aren't available, have a mechanic check it.

I bought my 03 Limited V8 with 103,000 miles on it, the belt hadn't been replaced so I had it done. The mechanic said the belt showed some signs of wear...no telling how much longer it would have lasted, but the peace of mind was worth the money.

Also make sure the water pump was changed at 90K as well. Other than that, you are good to go.

I also did the 90 maint. that replaced all fluids in both diff's, the tranny, etc.
