Hey guys just bought a 2000 T4R SR5 manual trans. first off i would like to say u people have an awsome resource that i hope i can take advantage of!!!! (j/k) but seriously i do need some help. Im calling on anyone with a manual 3.4L, Im getting a tranny type noise coming from either the engine compartment or the transfercase/tranny (hard to tell when u are driving). It sounds like a typical tranny type noise (kinda like the truck is supercharged). The sound is relative to the RPM and is loudest in the lower gears, especially when lightly holding the gas in 1st. as much as I would like to think my truck is supercharged, i need to figure out this problem b4 i ruin my tranny! or even worse my engine!!!!!!!

some other q's as well..........

I have owned a 2nd gen T4R in the past and i know that the rear power window can be a pain in the ass if it malfunctions. I can already hear some noises coming out of my 3rd gen's rear window when i am closing it............... i was thinking of opening the hatch and giving the machinery a oiling or some kind of maintanence. am i on the right track????????

one more thing....... i can see in some of the pics how the wheels can bend vertically while offroading, in some cases a-lot..... can my T4R do this stock or are those ones in the pic modified?????

I appreciate any help anyone can offer, thanx

for the rear window, just browse around online and you should be able to find a disassembly guide.

and as for the "vertical bend" or flex as its normally called, your rig should be able to flex a little bit stock, but majority of them have been modified with lift kits. larger spring come larger ride hight, and new shocks come with further travel, or a longer flex range

hope this helps, and please someone correct me if im wrong. :)

Your explanation sounds about right. The flex you see in my avatar (aka.. tiny picture under my sign-in name) is on a completely stock suspension. The rears do pretty well on these trucks but don't expect much from the IFS up front. Even with more suspension lift your front most likely will not achieve much flex without the aid of a solid axle swap. But thats what lockers are for. :bigok:

edit: Here are some better pictures of the stock rear flex. They are kinda blurry but you get the idea.

One more question............ Does my truck have rear diff lock???? the manual says the button should be to the left of my steering wheel, but the only button there is the clutch start cancel button (only on manuals).

Thanx grga
