I own a 1998 Toyota 4runner 4cylinder 2.7 liter engine(automatic). My truck shakes past 45mph. Now, I've put it on neutral & the rattle persists so it's not the gas. Idk what it is. I've taken it to my local mechanic and he just tells me it's an old truck and it's meant to do this. I refuse to believe this. Could it be the motor mounts? If so, I live in Pomona California and I'm wondering if any of you could either help me($$) or can direct me to a place. Lim Alan btw. 909-575-7697. Thanking you in advance.

Agreed. Take it to a Toyota specialist. Not just a mechanic but a Toyota specific shop. Don't go back to the same mechanic you already went to! (I have no idea why people do this)
