New to the site and 4R's.

Just picked up a 93 4R with 102k miles with a blown head gasket for 500 bucks. Its in ok shape just needs some TLC. Anything I should look for while doing the head gasket? Also anyone know where to get new seats? The drivers seat has a huge rip in it. Thanks in advance. Hope to be on this site regularly.

I have a white one as well. I have not had to do the head gasket in mine since the dealer did it. Take your vin number down to the dealer and find out if it has been done on yours in the past - if not Toyota will do it for free.

GO to your local craiglist and I am sure you will find a new seat.

Head Gasket

If you take your truck to the dealer and he sees that it has not been done - I have heard that sometimes the dealer will do it. Up here in Canada I checked my Vin and nothing was showing as a recall - so mine was done. THe dealer gets paid from Toyota so there is no out of pocket expenses to the dealer - My understanding it is up to their discretion - not neccessarily a time related issue.

I would take your vin and go to the dealer - ask.. can't hurt to ask.

welcome... nice find for $500. i have been looking for something like that for almost a month now but not having too much luck... found a 90 in AR with no motor or tanny for that price but nothing else... good luck with the head gaskets, some vehicles they can be fun working on...
