Hello all. My name is Ryan and I am from Central FL. I have a lifted 08 Tundra so this is my new daily driver. So I just picked up a 99 4Runner and I am stoked! I have been looking for a clean one for a while. This one is a 1 owner Orlando car, squeaky clean carfax, 129K no accidents, fresh timing belt and water pump for $4900. It could use new tires so I am looking for new wheels.... 18" wheels in 6x139.7 are a dime a dozen! It's awesome! The Tundra uses 5x150 which is hard to find. I figured if I needed new tires I would just use the stock 275/65/18s from the Tundra. I think they should fit ok. Any thoughts? Here it is.....

looks like you need to fix your battery .... either find one that fits, or change the tie down so it holds it in place.

Thanks for the tip about the battery! I will get that fixed ASAP. Here is a pic of my Tundra. It has less than 500 miles on it and a lot more stuff to install. So do you think the 4runner would have issues clearing the 275/65R18s stock? The overall diameter goes up 1.3" so judging from the pictures, I think I can pull it off.

Good score on the Runner

The picture makes it look like your prop rod is gone so I can't tell what is holding the hood up?

Some of us have gone to hood struts ...from Redline or Jason Burtman.

I have no conjecture about the 18's fitting....but would not recommend it unless you do the Tundra brake upgrade also.

Yeah the more I think about it I just want to powdercoat these wheels and then put a little bigger tire on it. It is only a 2WD but this truck is staying in FL so it is all I need.

I got the battery strap fixed. Thanks again for pointing that out! I can already tell I am going to start modding it! I have been looking at some different types of wheels and I am looking for opinions. The tires on it now are 225/75R15s with an OD of 28.3". I am guessing a 31x10.50x15 will rub like crazy.... What wheel size is the best for these trucks. Someone said 18s are too big and I would need bigger brakes. What is the lowest offset I can out without going past the fenders? Will a -6 work or is that too low. I am thinking 17s or 16s with an OD of 30.5" or so. 245 or 255 in width.... Any thoughts, suggestions? Happy New Year everybody!

Tires and wheels

I did a 2.5" suspension lift on my 2002 limited 4wd, and plan to put BFG 285/75R16 all terrain with 16 x 8 chrome rims. You could probalby go to a 17" rim and still be ok, depending on if you do a lift or not.

how on earth do they get that engine so shiney?? great looking runner by the way, i used to sell cars for dealers, however nobody would tell me the secret to how they got it so shiney. it was some kind of sweet smelling solution all i know. oh and Im anti armor-all though so none of that stuff its no beuno.

probably the sweetest tundra ever, not in a rude way but why do you want something besides it, the only reason i could guess is cause its a 4runner, the best vehicle ever made.

i had 31x10.50 with 15's and the only time they rubbed was at full lock turing into a steep driveway a little too fast
other then that no problems wse

and that tundra is beautiful!!

I think the trick is to get the engine really clean, usually with a pressure washer ans some sort of degreaser or all purpose cleaner. Then they spray the engine with some kind of silicone like black magic or Armor-All.

Thanks! I got the 4Runner just to have something else to drive. Plus I got it real cheap and I love Toyotas! I want to start a new project and it is either going to be with a 4Runner or a Tacoma.

Yeah I think I am going with some 31x10.50s but I may upgrade to 17s and 265/65s....... If I stick with the 15s I want to get these powdercoated black.... Thanks for the comment on the Tundra. I still have a list of things I want to do to it before I start a new project.

I pressure wash my engine and use a good degreaser then I "shine" everything with a simply tire shine product and it keeps the rubber under the hood more pliable and the "shine" does last a while.
