just bought it, the RAS doesn't work. no codes no dash lites of any kind. the rear is sitting on the rubber stops(down on the axle). all parts for the RAS seem to be there. any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

For the cost of diagnosing and fixing the problem, it is much less expensive to get yourself a set of new coils and some Bilstien 5100 shocks.

The Rear Air Suspension (RAS) only has an "off" warning dash light that will flash orange on/off (mine does this now that I have bypassed the sensors).

My RAS failed to operate properly when one of the sensors in the back crapped out. In that circumstance, it jacked the rear end right up.

I've also had the RAS fail in the way that you have described - riding on the bumper stops (like driving a buckboard - horse & buggy!).

I was able to retain my RAS system by having my mechanic bypass the sensors/electronics, and it now works on a manual fill basis (just like airing up my tires).

I believe he is referring to the RAS (rear air suspension) system, which supports the rear with air bags instead of coil springs. It is a separate system from Xreas, which is the cross-linked shock system you are talking about. As the following post suggests, you would first have to determine the reason for the air bag systems failure before trying to repair it.

Having had self-leveling air-bag systems go bad on two of my previous vehicles (Lincoln Towncar, Ford Crown Victoria) there are several sensors, actuators, lines, connections, etc. that can go out over time. Twice, I was quoted over $300 just for the diagnosis, then parts and labor on top of that. It was just easier and a LOT less expensive to convert to standard coil spring and shock. For a few hundred, I was able to get the parts and do the work myself.
