BMW R1200GS Adventure & a really nice Karbon Klim Helmet, jacket & gloves. The wife asked how much? I pulled a Bill Clinton, "Don't ask, Don't tell".
What a pig this thing is compaired to what I'm used too. Can't imagine taking this off road.

Not slow at all; it's a really good bike but I think the KTM adventure would eat it alive. It really is very similar to the Toyota 4Runner. As I get older, 44, I'm looking at things differently & realizing the race for the latest, greatest & most powerful toys aren't necessary. They're really all fine, I just like to try new things & not be stuck on brands. I actually considered a new Goldwing, but wasn't blown away by that one either.

GS’s, in the right hands, are tremendously capable off road.

I was just hanging with Matt Kelly last weekend at Vintage Days, he’s on the US GS Trophy Team just back from Mongolia with 2nd place and was getting all kinds of rowdy with it for fun.

I have ridden them off road. Yes a real pig. But in the hands of a decent rider, they can be pretty good. I ride with a couple riders who have them. I almost bought one when I bought my Africa Twin. They are made to travel the world on. And they are really good at that. We just did a week long trip, probably 40% dirt roads, some mild jeep roads. Loaded with camping gear.
"It's 90% the rider 10% the bike". Not as much fun in the dirt as my dirt bike, but it will get you there and back.

Most riders are not really ready for 600+lbs being pushed by 124 hp. It takes a lot of skill and some restraint to handle it. My Africa Twin is 525 lbs with full tank of gas, add the crash bars and camp gear,water etc and probably 625lbs, and 94 hp. Compared to my DRZ400 @ 300 lbs. The Honda is hard to handle. And I can't do with it what I do on the DRZ. But I have ridden with others who could. The big ADVenture bikes are for just that. A great ADVenture. Not meant for serious single track, but you can get there if you need/want to.

under 600 lbs and 124 hp. No its not slow. More than quick enough for 98% of riders. Most riders don't possess the skillset to handle it, so takes lots of restraint by the idiot with his/her hand on the right handle bar tube :wow:

OK, I'm not rich, but we just bought a 4 Wheeler from my father in law that he drove 3x & decided it wasn't for him. These things are a lot faster (and scarier)than what I remember. Shoot, now I have to buy a trailer. Running out of money here.
