New Toyota Bearing Arrived Damaged!

So I ordered new Toyota seals, clip, and bearing from Amazon. I opened the box to find this madness. I don't think the bearing is supposed to look like that, or am I wrong?

That bearing is broken, literally. The inner race shouldn't be cocked at an angle like that and the grease is supposed to be inside of the seal, not on the outside.

Might be a good thing to send a note to the manger of whatever place that came from explaining why you'll never be ordering from them again.

Looks like you got someones elses return that went back to stock.
I doubt that the bearing would've worked itself out of what soposed to be a sealed bag, and get damaged like that during shipping.

Amazon or 3rd party seller on Amazon? If the latter, report them to Amazon and post the appropriate review on the seller page as well as the item page.

Looks really bad. I have been plagued with issues this year from Amazon. It has gotten so bad, I am not renewing my Prime membership.

It was ordered through Amazon prime so they are of course sending a replacement with their usual excellent customer service. There was no filler packaging in the box to keep the Toyota box from moving around and I think that is why the box broke open. I was thinking that because the bearing looks new, no wear, and is broken that it may have been pressed on and then off by someone who forgot to put the brake shield backing plate on so they exchanged it after realizing their mistake. I don't see how any other force could pull apart this beefy front wheel bearing like that.

I have done many bearing jobs and I dont think the bearing is damaged. It looks like its missing a plastic retainer to hold the inner races from moving, but if you press the inner races back together, it will realign. Or should realign. What holds the bearing together is the axle nut. If you want the bearing to last, follow the torque specs when reinstalling. Most mechanics just use an impact wrench, over torque the nut and deform the inner race..

Since Amazon is sendiing a new one, you will have peace of mind. But I see no signs this one was ever installed before.

Yeah, they sent me two drivers side LBJs. Didn’t realize until I had the passenger side torn apart. Sucks to be scrambling for parts last minute.

Yeah, I can't fathom how that could get damaged in shipping, it would take a huge amount of force to break it like that.

Yes but was it a 3rd party seller? Lots of these non-Amazon inc sellers ship with Prime.
