New Toyotas only come with a single fob

Wife just got a new 2023 Highlander. Apparently new Toyotas now only come with a single fob until they can mail you a second one. Kind of sucks when you both need a set of keys. No clue how long this will take before they decide to send us our second set.

Sales guy said this is common on most new Toyotas.

We brought home a '23 4Runner a couple weeks ago and it came with both. Never heard of that, but maybe it's a regional thing.

We live about 30 minutes South of Princeton Indiana where the Highlanders are made. You are correct, they are shipping with 1 key fob for the Highlanders. I heard this was a recent issue...

Last 39 days bought both a 4Runner and Tacoma.
Both came with two sets of keys

bought the 4R yesterday, came with both. A lady was picking up a Highlander Hybrid at the same time and only getting one. My sales lady said it was because of the chip shortage.

We purchased a 2023 4Runner two weeks ago. It came with 2 fobs. That’s sucks if their new vehicles start coming with only 1 fob.

Highlanders are only half as good as a 4runner or Taco....hence half the fobs.

I took delivery about a week ago (inbound vehicle) - I got both key fobs...(2023 4runner Limited)

Picked up my new 4R last week and it came with both fobs, the salesman said I was one of the lucky ones, that Toyota is treating them as a "recall" and your local dealer will reach out to bring you in and program the 2nd key for you.
