New TRD Style Grille

How did you get it to fit well? what did you modify on the metal brace? was it because of the two plastic "wing" type peices that transfer from the old grille to the new one?

FYI I've installed mine on an '08, and ran into a few hiccups, definitely be careful with the bolts along the top of the existing grille, I snapped one and the plastic holders on the others broke off the existing grille. I couldnt find those type of "T" bolts and acorn washers (with a hole in them) anywhere. Those T bolts dont like to stay put in their holders and would often strip the plastic around them making it unable to tighten, much of my time was spent trying to figure out a replacement.
Also the 2 little plastic wing peices on either side of the existing grille that youre supposed to transfer over to the new grille just didnt work for me, doesnt seem like theyre in the right spot on the new grille. I just left them off (maybe their purpose is to hold down the ends of the grille seal/gasket).

Can someone direct me to the correct link to buy a grille for my 2003-2005 version? Looks like the one from the earlier posts is dead now and I don't want to buy from the wrong seller or something. Thinking I'll go with the lights but are they removable? It might look better without them. Thanks, y'all

I kept tracking this thread to see if there was a cheaper and quicker shipping option. In the meantime, I got my car painted and now the front is black. I want to change the middle part to TOYOTA lettering but i'm unable to find this specific part as much as I search.
Can someone help me get the source for the middle part only, if those are available?

Saw a color matched silver one on the gram. Wasn’t super keen on it but it may be the answer for some.
I ended up buying a brand new OEM color matched limited grill from the dealer for less lol
What LED lighting are you using in the hood scoop? is it good and does it light up the road without shining too much on the hood?
I can't remember what brand light it is but just a single row bar that fit the space best. Welded up some aluminum brackets and its good! No glare off the hood since that part of the hood slants down and is hidden by the hood scoop anyway
Yeah it was because of the two plastic "wings". So took an angle grinder to the metal piece to clear the wings. In hindsight I would have just taken the wings off for good because you can't even see them on the sides of the new grill.

I managed to get the V8 emblem to fit in there with a little bit of trimming. I'll post more shots tomorrow in the daylight.

Has anyone installed the 06-09 version on an 03-05 model? My concern is that the metal bracket is not transferable from one to the other. Thanks!

There's a specific '03-05 version.
From what I've seen in the thread, you can use the late model grill exactly as any other facelift swap.

So think I hit a bird yesterday and lost my T. Anyone know if you can get just the letters? If not, I'm thinking of getting 06-09 style and trimming the bumper to fit. Anyone done that mod yet?

I contacted the alibaba vendor I ordered from, they said $20, but not sure if that's shipped and I would like to get the white letters. Anyone sure those will fit? Only worry I have is those are on a Taco grille, not 4runner.
