New truck, new problems vent problems.

So I had a 2004 sport that was hit on the highway by someone else. 2004 b8 262 miles and insurance gave me 9500. Crazy times we live in.

Well. I scored a built up 2003 v8 limited on 35’s with 220k on it so it was a nice little upgrade. Just tracking down some of the issues unresolved from the previous owner.

The vents don’t work as they are selected. Defrost works fine. Blows under the windshield etc. for head / feat they work but the two center dash vents get really weak due to it all being diverted to the windshield and sides. The centers still blow slightly but not enough to feel. This had the clicking under the dash (the air mix relays.) that I swapped out with a working one from my 2004. That solved the issue on the pass side, but I need to order the drivers side as it’s a limited and has two and has two. The vents never worked right since I had this and I replaced that relay (the door select one I think it is) from my 2004 that was working under the glove box and it’s still an issue. So wondering what my next step is. Also the blower door itself is broken. So figure I have to pull things out anyway to replace that since I will be replacing the dash pad anyway.

Following. When I put on the defrost in the morning, I'll often lose the center two vents when I go back to regular AC. I'm guessing the chingaderra that routes the air is getting stuck. There has to be a better fix than turning off the air and slapping the top of the dash, which is usually about a 50/50 proposition.

take the climate controls out, and inspect the wire harness, could be a loose wire out of the plug, if you know how to undo the plug, and de-pin and solder, your good to go.
