The no rust is a combo of the quality metal AND the fact that they coat almost every part underneath of the trucks with an electrostatic coating that helps prevent rust from forming.

So the wife and I looked at the one I was talking about in my OP. Unfortunately it was abused. The interior was totally thrashed. It had been smoked in and had cigarette burns all over the interior, including the headliner. The driver seat had a huge tear in the leather. All four of the wheels had severe curb rash. When we took it on a test drive, the fuel was on empty and the salesman complained that he did not have the money to fill the tank, as he was new there and they might not reimburse him. WTF?!
When I applied the brakes, the vehicle pulled to the right and there was significant shimmy in the steering wheel. Unbelievable. Let's just say I didn't walk from this one, I ran!

Thats crazy. Those are all things that would make a typical Toyota dealer not purchase the car for their lot...or at the very least, repair such items before letting a potential customer see.
Hope your not turned off by 4Runners now. They are great if taken care of just like most things in life.

Update, we found a 2006 Limited with the V8 priced at $25,900 with 29,xxx mi. This has to be the cleanest ones we've seen. We've looked at several and most of them are abused. It seems that the majority of people that take care of them know what they have and don't want to get rid of it. I will post pics ASAP.
Do it! I just pulled the trigger on an nice 07 SE with V8 with 29,XXX mi and couldnt be happier to be back in a T4R.

We recently bought a '07 Limited 4x4 V8 Mica Grey that was in perfect shape with 15k miles on it for 29k$...they can be found. I search a 200 mile to find mine and ended finding it at the local Toyota dealership. I may have paid a little more buying from a dealer but I think it is worth it. BTW...no regrets...love the V8!
