New wheels coming on recent deliveries?

Any real examples of new deliveries having the proper new style wheel? Most of the Solar Octane seem to have new wheels, but other colors come with old wheels. Is there an official cut over when the new wheels are consistently showing up on new deliveries?

OK, a positive spin. Although the buyers of solar orange 4Runners are few, they are rabid and are willing to pay crazy prices to get one.

I took delivery of mine 8/26 and unfortunately came with the old style SEMA wheels. I ended up ordering a set of the flow form one's from BAM wholesale and hopefully getting them on this weekend. The hold up isn't so much the wheels as it is the center caps. They are on national backorder due a supplier issue and them having to source them somewhere else. TRD Pro's were piling up waiting for wheels so Toyota opted to deliver with the older style. It seems there's no real rhyme or reason to it. Some people were lucky and got the new ones. I was able to get a set of the TRD Tundra center caps coming, they are the same except without the red ring around the outside. I would have been far happier with the new style wheels but dealers don't care, if I didn't want it there were 5 other guys waiting for a Solar Octane one.

Too bad Solar Octane is offered on lower trims starting in 2024. What a bummer!! I almost was willing to pay a prem for one too.

Good luck! I'd be impressed if they did it but I'd be more impressed if they offered this to all the owners that got screwed. I'm out about a $1000 getting mine swapped out but hopefully I can recover a good portion of that from selling off the old ones.

Here's a pic of the new ones mounted up. Sprung for a set of my preferred Toyo ATIII's, might as well just get it done. Still waiting on center caps obviously. Sold the old TRD wheels and Terra Grapplers within an hour on FB marketplace.

Here's them kind of side by side in a few pics I found online. The older style (SEMA) wheels are flat faced with large center caps. The newer (Flow Form) wheels are more dished, almost like using spacers and have the smaller center cap. The new ones are supposedly lighter and stronger. I've had the old style on my last 2 4Runner's and really wanted the new one's on my Pro. I could have probably got better aftermarket wheels but I've had a few problems with aftermarket wheels (mainly finish and center caps).

If I were choosing, I'd probably prefer the old style. The little dimples on the bead flange look a bit odd to me. But if there is a noticeable difference in weight and strength, I could learn to like the newer style.

new wheels are concave and I really like them as well.
The whole point of paying high dollar for a brand new trd pro is to get the cool new wheels...................
