yeah I didn't even think about bosch icons when I got mine...

stupid-ass me already bought them for my other car and completely forgot by the time I got my 4Runner blades... oh well...

Haha yeah I'm starting to notice that as well...

I think it's because we both got pretty base 4Runners so we've been taking steps to get ourselves back on par with everyone else (e.g. roof rack, spoiler)

well, it wouldnt depened if u had high quality or low quality wipers if you had a crappy windshield right? like mine is full of small rock holes. ( the kind that make ur windshield look all spotted when the sun hits it at the right angle) b/c the wiper blades wont be getting the whole surface of the windsheild

having good wiper blades kinda helps til the windshield gets sandblown...

Yeah, the Bosch Icons are super nice, expensive 25$ each... but super nice..
 
I got my Bosch Icons for $17/ea and after a year I don't plan on going back to traditional blades as the one piece flex ones are the best I've used;my GF has the Michelin version ($13/ea at wally world) on her Focus and they are night and day compared to OEM.
 
If you went with 17' Rain-x Latitudes then you will be fine. I have these and for me they have out performed the oem, and piaa blades. The piaa blades were ok...but the cost was overpriced considering the streaks. I even tried the piaa's with their little windshield wipe and they still left much to be desitred. To note, I am in Vancouver and we get our fair share of rain.
 
I'm starting to find that any "beam style" wipers (like the Icons, Latitudes, etc) do not perform well in snowy conditions. I know this isn't the case 99% of the time for most people (myself included) but there were times during the last snow storm (and I'm sure in the one coming up) that my Bosch Icons completely froze and became useless. Falling snow/slush will eventually begin to accumulate on top of the beam, as well as get packed underneath, and freeze the rubber blade in place, turning the windshield wipers into frozen rods skittering across the windshield. In most other weather situations they work well, but if you aren't aware of how they could perform in heavy snow, you could be in for a rude awakening when your windshield wipers stop working half way through your drive:shrug:

That was the case with my RainX Lattitudes. Very crappy in the cold and snowy conditions! I've had good luck with my 'Yota blades!

For the life of me, I cant figure out why you guys continue to buy rubber wiper blades. The set that I mentioned above has given me NO troubles....even in the icy weather that north Texas got when I lived up there...

I mean... those are still rubber blades? It has almost nothing to do with the compound of the actual part that wipes the windshield, it has to do with the design of the frame that holds the wiper. I'd maybe purchase the SilBlade, but both other designs will undoubtedly collect ice and snow as you drive along. Icy conditions in Northern Texas are a bit different than snowstorms pumping out snow at the rate of 3-4" an hour in Northern Virginia...

Havent had any problems with the Bosch Icons in Snowy Colorado...
 
Prior to moving to Vancouver, I was in Northern Ontario and our winters would give us
-30C and plenty of snow and I still found the Latitudes to do a great job, once again out performing oem or piaa. Then again I am the type of person that clears all of the snow from my vehicle and snap the blades before I drive when required.
In that climate all hinged blades, (exposed or winter/covered) would fail in performance.
 
I have the cheaper rain x on my truck and latitudes on my girlfriends beetle. Hers far outlast mine and wipe better old than mine do new..

I'll give icons a shot soon
 
I think it's funny that SilBlades dramatically reduced their warranty from 5 years to 90 days recently. Warranty | wiper blades, installation, auto, DIY, do it yourself, how to install, instructions, automotive from SSP Companies]LINK Maybe good blades, but not spending that much. Especially if the company itself doesn't trust their products enough to pretty much do away with the warranty.

My wife has been using Valeo Ultimate blades from Tirerack for 1.5 years now. Still does great. No special treatments or anything. And they've been ABUSED, as she uses them a lot during the cold months. We actually get a ton of snow here and their cold weather performance is good. Tirerack still has a buy one get one free deal ($20). As soon as my wipers wear out, I'm going to get some.
 
I got the Valeo's too. Not terribly expensive since it is buy one get one free.

So far they have been just fine. I've really only used them in rain though.
