new woofer setup

hey guys,

some pics of my upgraded woofer setup. Picked up the new JL audio W3v3...the Bass is crazy..... big thx to mrshyboy for the box.

my system should be complete now. I mite pickup a new headunit in nov as a birthday gift to myself.

How is it bolted on?

How thick is the box? He must have used the little storage compartment back there to be able to fit the sub. The sub alone is 6 5/8" deep.

Looks good. Hopefully mine will turn out as nice.

Im just curious, do you really need a capacitor for that? I had a cap on my old setup(as well as a 200amp alternator), but I was running around 2000 watts total. I couldn't imagine you are running more than 300 to that W3. Im not saying you are wrong for having it, im just curious if it's a necessity or you just wanted it?

The amp in my runner is connected to the front 6x9 w. tweeters and rear 6.5 as well as the JL sub. It never hurts to use a cap to ensure the system hits the hardest without putting strain on the stock electical system.

He prop doesnt need it, but theres nothing wrong with having preventative measures plus also isnt it better for the electrical system even if it isnt straining it...?

I'm not sure, thats why I was asking... just curious

A capacitor is like a battery. The difference is a capacitor quickly charges, and discharges quickly when the amplifier needs the power (ie. hard bass hit). It provides a little extra juice which in turn leaves your batery/altenator to power the rest of the vehicle. Not having one won't harm your other electronics, it just keeps your amplifier from being starved of power.

Caps in general aren't needed untill you get to 500 watts and up. And once you get to around 1000 you really need to replace your battery, or the cap is useless and can actually just cause more harm to your battery and alternator than good.

Upgrade your big 3... that'll help quite a bit. which is battery - to chassis, battery + to alternator +, and engine block to chassis.

I reccomend doing that first, switched to an optima yellow top, then adding a cap. Last replace the alternator...but those are a HUGE chunk of change.

Rule is .5 farad cap per 500 watts RMS.

What makes you think having a capacitor could harm your battery?

i bought the box from mrshyboy. he is from the forum. He made the box. The box extens into the storage compartment.
