Hey Everyone,
Kinda a newb here, have browsed around for a while but not really posted. Looked through search and browsed a few pages of threads but couldn't find the answer so please forgive me if this question has been asked 50 times before.
I have a 99 SR5 and for the past year or so the drivers door lock has been going out. I have always been able to unlock and lock the door with the key, or by manually pulling up on the lock itself. However electrically it has been going out.
I started noticing that the door would always lock with the remote or lock button but hesitated to unlock with either. Over time the problem has progressed to now not locking or unlocking with the remote or lock button.
As I press the remote or lock button the lock bumps a little as if trying to unlock or lock but just won't do it.
All other doors lock and unlock as they should.
My guess (which could be completly wrong) is that the door lock actuator is just going/gone out and needs to be replaced.
So my question is, do you think this is the case? If so do I just need to replace the actuator? Are there any good sites, etc to buy an actuator rather than paying the unbelievable fee the dealership is going to want (they wanted 500 to replace the whole EATC unit when a bulb burnt out!)? How much should I expect to pay to have the actuator replaced? Suggestions?
Thanks!
Jon
