Newb question about correct Spark Plugs

Sorry...this may be a lame question but I am new to this vehicle so here goes.

I just bought a set of NGK BKR5E-11 Spark Plugs for my '02 Limited off the internet. My question is this... the hood on my runner states that I should only use "Twin Ground Electrode Plugs" (in fact they even have a picture with the correct type circled and the single type with an X thru it!) but the replacement NGK's I just purchased are "Single Ground". I thought I was buying the correct thing...they were direct replacements listed for my truck!?!

So...Am I ok to install these NGK's that were listed as compatible for my '02 Limited 4wd or should I send them back and replace them with the "Twin Ground" type?


Any advice???

As long as you use a good plug lke NGK you should be okay. Honestly most dual electrode plugs out there are kinda crappy. I am NOT a fan of Bosch and they make the +2, +4 electrodes. I tried to get NGK Platinims but can't find them around here. I ended up putting a set of Splitfire Platinum. When I changed mine they had some crappy Autolites. I reccomend NGK, or Denso.

Bringing this thread back from the dead - I bought some Splitfire V Power plugs to replace the Denso k20hru11 ones that were in the truck when we bought it.

Basically they are one electrode with a split end, which was the closest thing autozone had in stock to a dual electrode. (They don't carry NGK or Denso, and were out of the Bosch variety). After installing them, the engine seems to be knocking or a least a little louder, rpm dependent. If it doesn't quiet down within a couple days I'll probably pull them out and buy some NGKs.

Has anyone had good or bad experience with the Splitfire V Powers in a 4Runner?

I don't seem to have a good idle and bad gas mileage. I have already done a fuel injection cleaning and a intake cleaning along with the throttle body. I am going to find out what kind of NGK or Denso that it takes and order them. Either that or I will just get the from the dealer. $3 something a piece isn't bad.
