I just bought a 96 runner and the car shakes whenever i exceed 50mph and even worst if i go higher on the hwy. I had the tires balanced twice and it wasnt the problem. If anyone could help or has any pointers, it would be greatly appreciated. Thnx

that doesnt mean they were balanced correctly. x2 on the alignment also.

X3.... It took them 3 times before they got mine balanced correctly!

The tire balance and the alignment would be the obvious culprit. If it is not the alignment, could be a possible tire that is out-of-round, motor mounts, or maybe even the motor needing a tune-up.
