Steve here, from Festus, Missouri. I just bought an '05 4Runner from a family friend. I'm glad to have found this forum - I'm sure it will be a huge source of information on these trucks.
The truck I bought is an '05 V8 4wd "Limited", which recently started throwing codes and went into "Limp Mode" - which the previous owner told me was related to secondary air pump and valve problems.
I have done a bit of research on the topic, and know that there are solutions for this issue (some very expensive, some not so expensive).
In any event, my plan is to fix the things that are wrong with this truck, with an eye towards it being a replacement for our family's aging minivan.
