Newbie From NTX

Hello, new guy here. My name is Josh. I'm from North Texas. Just purchased a 1998 4x4. It has 226k miles. Its been very well taken care of.

Plans: It has a slight oil leak at the oil pan. Occasionally, the when I take it out of 4wd, it doesn't disengage very smoothly. Hopefully a fluid change will fix that. The rear hatch window switch quit working today. Other than that, its in damn good shape.

I'm pretty excited about the vehicle. I came from the domestic world. I owned a 2004 GTO before this. I worked for Chevrolet since I was 16 (29 now). Currently working for a construction company (I got tired of the parts business).

I will be elbow deep in this forum for a while, finding common problems and fixes for the truck.

Can't wait to get to know the community.

Welcome to the forum! Change the radiator if it's an auto trans and change the lower ball joints. Other than that, enjoy!

Oh, and make sure your oil pan is what's leaking and not the valve covers or rear seal. The oil pans on these don't leak very often.

Thanks for the info! I looked at it briefly. It was a little dark. From what I can tell, it's the oil pan. It was a little tough to see the valve covers. When I get a little more time, I'm going to dig into it a little further. I plan on servicing all the fluids in it, and would like to take care of all the leaks while I'm at it. Man, it's a different world under the good of this thing. My GTO had access to everything under the hood. I'm very mechanically inclined, so the tighter space shouldn't be a problem.
